Edna Mae Falor

On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, Edna Mae Falor, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 86. Edna was born on May 12, 1934 to Wavel and Lucile (Graham) Snyder. She married the love of her life Donald Neil Falor on August 1, 1954. They raised a daughter Linda Myers and 2 sons Gary and Steven. Edna enjoyed baking, pony pulling, gardening, bird watching and most of all spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her loving husband of 66 years, Donald; sons, Steven (Missy) Falor of Ovid and Gary Falor of Fowler; 3 brothers, John (Rosie) Snyder of Belding, Tom (Carolyn) Snyder of Ionia and William (Pat) Snyder of New Mexico, 2 sisters, Betty (Jim) Rowley of Ionia and Delores (Phil) Brunk of Grand Ledge; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers, Jack, Chuck, Carl, Ralph and Alan; 1 sister, Carol and her daughter, Linda Myers.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 1:00-6:00pm at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St Johns. A graveside service will be set at a later date. Donald H. Hofkamp

Donald H. Hofkamp went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the age of 81. He was born in Edgerton, Minnesota, the son of Garry and Helen (Grifhorst) Hofkamp. Don proudly served in the US Air Force. After returning from the service he worked at a local CO-OP and for Pete Kooiman, a farmer in the Edgerton area.

In 1967 Don made his way to Lansing Michigan to work for General Motors. He retired in 1997 with 30 years of service. Don enjoyed playing and listening to gospel and country Blue Grass music, traveling, and riding motorcycles. Don was a talented woodworker making furniture for family and friends. On August 20, 1976 he married Helen Sali, who survives him.

Also surviving are three sons, Brian (Nicki) Hofkamp, Mathew Hofkamp, Robert (Kip) Good; two daughters Carol (Ron) Gast and Sallie (Gary) Heroux; and nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Marcella Feuerhelm and a brother, Vernon “Bud” Hofkamp. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Elaine Hofkamp.

A graveside funeral service will be held for Don at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2020 at South Bingham Cemetery near St. Johns with Pastor Sue Alvera officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.

The family will be forever grateful to the nurses and caregivers at Sparrow Home Hospice for their dedication and love they showed Don in his last days here on Earth. Memorials may be made to Sparrow Home Hospice, P.O. Box 30480 Lansing, MI 48909.


Joseph Mazurek

Joseph Mazurek, 94, of St. Johns, MI, passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI, on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will take place Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.

Joe was born in Holt, MI on April 4, 1926. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. On June 27, 1970, Joe married Joy E. Daman. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2017 after nearly 47 years of marriage.

Joe loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting and camping were favorite activities. He was a skilled mechanic and enjoyed working on any type of machinery. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.

Joe is survived by daughter Shirley (Bill) Bailey of Las Vegas, NV, son Bill (Debbie) Daman of St. Johns, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, a very special sister-in-law June France and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Annette Elsea

Mary Annette Elsea, 77, of St. Johns, MI was reunited with her husband on Thursday October 8, 2020. Mary was born in St. Johns, MI on May 27, 1943, the daughter of Lester and Cecile (Claypool) Ritz. Mary graduated from Rodney B Wilson in 1961. On April 18, 1964 Mary and William “Bill” Elsea were married. Bill and Mary were members of Legion 153, and Moose and Eagles. Mary retired from St. Johns Public Schools.

She is survived by her son Todd (Julee) Elsea, daughter Staci (Dale) Cole, son Rory (Lona) Elsea, daughter Deanna Finch, son Devin (Angie) Elsea; grandchildren Jeff (Kasey) Stewart, Magen (Andy) Leech, Kelsea (Andy) Cole, Matt (Sarah), Chris (Sarah), Alex, Andrew, Alyssa (Kellen), Grace, Skylar and Corbin Elsea, Travis Townsend, Allison, Anna, Brady and Brody Finch; great grandchildren Justin, Jordynn, Reese, Hazel, Zoey, Hudson, Deacon, Zailyn, Kylynne, Landon and River; her sister Barbara (David) Nagengast, her brother Paul Ritz, sister in law Dorothy Ritz, many nieces and nephews, and so many special friends that were considered family, along with her dog Jazzy. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, her mother and father in law, her brother Robert “Bob” Ritz, sister in laws Kay Beasley and Kay Ritz, and her special dog Killa.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2020 at the St. Johns UAW local 925 from 3-6 p.m.

Hope Irene Hoskins

Hope Irene Hoskins (Schomisch) died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the age of 66. She was born March 11, 1954 the daughter of Raymond and Jeanette Schomisch. Hope never met a stranger, loved yard sales and crafting and talking about her three children to anyone who would listen.

Surviving her is her father, Raymond Schomisch of St. Johns; her three children, Jody Hoskins of GA, Jacob (Amanda) Hoskins of VA and Rachel Hoskins of FL; five grandchildren, Mikayden Schneider, Payton and Tyler Hoskins and Colton and Cody Hoskins; a special cousin, Teri Seperic, as well as other beloved family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Schomisch.

Funeral services for Hope will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, October 12, 2020 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
