Aidan Scott Grady
On Friday, April 30, 2021 we suddenly lost the bright and shining light in this world that was Aidan Scott Grady, 21. As those who knew him can attest, he made it his mission to make sure that the people who were fortunate enough to meet him felt seen, heard, and loved. An incredibly smart young man, he made it obvious at an early age that he could keep up with the brightest minds of kids much older than him. As a student in the St. Johns Public Schools, he began competing in Science Olympiad at the high school level as a 7th grader. He was energetic, inquisitive, and driven by a desire to be authentic to himself.
Even as a child, Aidan was surefooted and confident. Climbing on rocking chair arms, reaching the top of any tree, swinging in the breeze once he was there. He was fearless in his pursuits, and fiercely devoted to family and friends. He loved animals, especially his dog, Zeke and his chinchilla, Meeko. He was very active for many years in 4-H and Boy Scouts, experiences that shaped his life in profound ways. Aidan’s star shone with brilliant intensity and, like Icarus, he flew close enough to the sun to feel its incredible heat. He emanated love like waves from his very being, sharing it freely with those who needed it. We have all been blessed to have been a part of that love, and to share in his life that ended far too soon.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Paul Douma. He is survived by his mother, Mari Douma (Al Martin), father Michael Grady (Cathy Grady), siblings Teagan Grady (Zach Bouck), and Devin Grady, step-siblings Andy Martin (Randee Martin), Christopher Martin (Ashley Hall) August Miller, Rhiannon Miller, and Logan Miller. He is also survived by grandparents Betty Douma, Ron and Vivian Grady, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 9 AM – Noon at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns MI. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Capital Area Humane Society, or the animal shelter/rescue of your choice.

Janice K. Newhouse
Janice K. Newhouse. 82, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born April 24, 1939 to Joseph and Katherine (Holden) Gasser.
Three points guided Jan’s life, family, community, and life-long learning. An excellent student, Jan was the Rodney B Wilson valedictorian for the year of 1957. She received her B.S. degree in Medical Technology from Michigan State University, and remained a lifelong Spartan. Wherever life took her, Jan continued her education, reading voraciously, and she passed this love of learning down to her children and grand-children.
A second theme to Jan’s life was community. Throughout Jan’s many moves, she endeavored to become part of the community, involving herself in a variety of organizations and churches, all focused on making a difference.
Central to Jan’s life was family. Whether she was researching family genealogy, or attending sporting events for children and grandchildren, family was paramount. Jan made sure that her family always knew they were loved. She doted on her grandsons.
Janice is survived by her children, Cindy (Bradley) Bloom and Gerard (Maria) Newhouse; 3 grandchildren, Garrett Bloom, Gerard and Robert Newhouse; her sister, Caroline L. Garrick ; as well as nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Kay Gasser, her brother and sister-in-law, David and Betsy Gasser, and her brother-in-law, Bernie Garrick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Fibromyalgia research, CFIDS Organization, or any charity or organization whose purpose is to make the world a better place for ALL inhabitants. Please visit Jan’s personalized web page at https://www.langelands.com.
