Connie Lorraine Weller

Connie Lorraine Weller, age 74, of Ovid, MI, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021, at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Eureka Christian Church, Eureka, MI, on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Justin Shepard and Pastor Keith Whipple officiating. Burial will take place at Duplain Township Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.

Connie was born in Ovid, Michigan on April 25, 1947, the daughter of Lester Hughson and Dorothy (Schneider) Thompson. She graduated from Ovid High School with the class of 1965. Connie married Jerry Weller on June 12, 1965.

Connie retired as a bus driver from St. Johns Public School after many years of service. She loved cooking, baking, and sewing. She enjoyed farming, mowing lawn, flower gardening, and rides on their gator. Her world revolved around her grandchildren. She was a member of Eureka Christian Church where she also taught Sunday school and vacation bible school.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Weller, children: Brent and Karen Weller, Bryan Weller, Christopher Weller, Sara Ann and Timothy Cox, Jeri Kay Leavitt, grandchildren: Ashlynn, Natilynn, Isabelle, Wyatt, Grace, Collin, and Katie. She is also survived by her brothers: Tom and Nancy Hughson and Terry and Pat Hughson. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester Hughson and Dorothy and Harry Thompson and son Daniel Weller.

Memorials may be made to Eureka Christian Church or Sparrow Hospice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.


Patricia I. Mitchell

Patricia I. Mitchell, 78, of Central Lake, passed away on June 11, 2021 at her home. Pat was born on November 23, 1942 in St. Johns, MI, the daughter of Samuel and Omah (Webster) Green. She and Dale owned property in Central Lake since 1976. Then upon retirement in 1991 made this their permanent home.

She was an avid Detroit Tiger Baseball fan and loved doing arts and crafts. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, fishing, bird watching and going on pontoon rides on Intermediate Lake.

On March 6, 1965 in Lansing, MI, she married Dale E. Mitchell who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Stephen Mitchell of Coldwater, MI, Susan (Jim) Brown of St. Johns, MI, Dalietta (Dennis) Novello of Charlotte, MI, Dale (Fiance Donna Sheldon) MItchell of Central Lake, Patrick (Sheila) Mitchell of DeWitt, MI, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Marie Verellen and her parents.

Funeral services took place on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Burial followed in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
