Richard Geller

Richard Geller, formerly of Pewamo passed away April 29, 2020 at the age of 74. He was born August 26, 1945 in St. Johns, the son of Carl Geller and Mary (Riley) Geller. Richard was a retired entrepreneur. He owned and operated Geller’s Restaurant and Lounge in the 1980s. Richard loved MSU.

He is survived by his daughter Tiffany (Harold) Reed of Torrance, CA and his granddaughter Katherine Reed; sister Carla Geller; brother Leo (Mary) Geller and extended family. He was predeceased by his brother Patrick and his parents.

Richard will always be remembered for his charismatic personality and many good friends.

A memorial gathering will take place from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Gorsline Runciman DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington St.


Janet Elaine Smalldon

Janet Elaine Smalldon, age 77, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor with her family by her side.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, with Pastor Jim Pearl officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel.

Janet was born in Ovid, Michigan on March 27, 1944, the daughter of Christy and Neva (Burl) Louth. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the class of 1962. On September 29, 1962, Janet married her high school sweetheart, Harold William Smalldon, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. They were blessed with nearly 59 years of marriage.

Janet enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She hosted a “cousins’ week” for many years. She was an avid reader and card player. She liked gardening, crafting, painting, and spending time with friends. She always looked forward to traveling up north and trips to Arizona to see her brother.

Janet was the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of St. Johns High School for many years and a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church.

Janet is survived by her husband Harold of St. Johns, MI; 2 daughters: Kathy (Chris) Fairchild of St. Johns, MI; and Kris (Dennis) Sleep of St. Johns, MI; and son William (Jocelyn Kroupa) Smalldon of Holland, MI. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Aaron (Brittni) Fairchild, Jacob (Alisha) Fairchild, Christy (Michael Mihneski) Fairchild, Alex (Melissa) Rickman, Ben (Erika) Rickman, Claire Rickman, Brad (Shana) Sleep, Anthony (Audrey) Sleep, Zachary (Hannah Knight) Smalldon, Brock Smalldon, Andrew Smalldon, and Samuel Smalldon; 10 great- grandchildren: Isabella, Ilijah, Willow, Tyler, Colton, Lyla, Emma, Kennedy, Nola, and Quinn; and brother Jack Louth. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, Janet’s family requests that memorials be made to Wounded Warriors, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan.
