Colleen Sue Costan
Colleen Sue Costan, a resident of Ovid and a native of St. Johns, Michigan died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on August 31, 2021 after a hard fought battle with Cancer.
Colleen was born in St. Johns on April 19, 1952, the daughter of Dale and Barbara (Bailey) Robinson, and grew up in St. Johns where she was a graduate of St. Johns High School. She went on to work for the State of California as a supervisor for the Contractor’s License Board. After retirement, she moved with her family back to her hometown of St. Johns, and began her second career at State Street Family Dental where she worked for many years, greeting and helping patients, and being the “Office Mom” to everyone who worked there.
Colleen was a big baseball and San Francisco Giants fan. She also loved the Spartan Marching Band and Michigan State football. Colleen enjoyed crafting and she lovingly crocheted blankets for family and friends. If you were given one of her blankets, you knew it was her way of wrapping you with love.
She is survived by her husband Harry Costan; her daughters, Kelly Knight and Monica (Marshall) Ebreck Matthews; grandchildren, Jalen Lee Whaley I, Joseph Dean Horrell, and Justin Michael Ebreck; (Jonni Marshall); brother Michael (Cammi) Robinson; sister Diane Crawford (Bob Calder); sister-in-law Renee Costan; nieces and nephews, Angela Molina, Haley Robinson, Logan Robinson, Jordan Stoddard, Megan Zack (Andrew), Selena Costan, and Carrie Kannarr (Lewis); great nieces and nephews, Catelyn and Jason Reynolds, Sloane Zack, Marshall, Zoe and Maya Costan and her special family, Marie, Kerry, Christian and Peyton Heuhs, Kathy Gonzalez (Joe), Amy Bieneman, Darreon Bieneman-Moor, Madison Byrd, Alethea, Adam and Alyssa Frazier.
Colleen touched many people’s lives. If you needed a friend, or a Mom, or a Grandma, or a Sister, she was there to fill that place. She was kind and caring, and her laugh filled the room. If Colleen was laughing. Everyone was laughing.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Colleen’s life at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Parkway, St. Johns, on Wednesday, September 8, at 12:30 PM. Friends may visit from 10 AM until the time the service.
