Roberta Martin

Roberta “Bobbie” Martin, of St. Johns, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 90.

She was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 11, 1931, the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Sage) Hathaway and grew up in St. Johns where she was a graduate of St. Johns High School and worked as a telephone operator on the General Telephone switchboard. She was a proud member of T.O.P.S., enjoyed having coffee with her friends, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the most special thing in her life.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Martin and Kim (Viola) Martin; grandchildren, Tonya (Tim Kubica) Martin, Tammy (Steve) Wainright, Michael (Elise) Martin, Robin Martin and Sheena (Steve) Ballbach and great grandchildren, Tyler Wainright, Haelee and Summer Shirley, Roscoe and Charlie Kubica, Alivia, Ryan and Jason Martin, Faelyn and Ava Ballbach. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly sixty years, Robert Martin, in 2009, her parents and brother, Bud Sage.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns, with Pastor John Mattern officiating and interment in Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of the service.

Bruce Amos

Bruce Amos, age 88, of St. Johns, died on November 23, 2021.

Bruce was born on February 27, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan, the second of three sons born to Roland and Gladys (Gulick) Amos and graduated from Sexton High School. He married Coyla Jean McCargar in 1952. In 1963, he made his home in St. Johns.

Bruce was a hard worker, a man of many talents and was proud of his many careers and accomplishments throughout the years. He worked for Lansing Dairy, delivering milk by horse and wagon, the Post Office; managed the first McDonalds in Michigan in 1957 and added two more Lansing McDonalds stores to his responsibilities in the next few years; was part owner of a McDonalds in Portland and later managed the St. Johns McDonalds for a combined twenty-two years. He also worked for Randolph’s Ready-Mix, he owned Leer & Biquor, a West Branch Party Store for a few years, and retired from Kurt’s Appliance Center.

Bruce was an avid horseman, a 4H leader, bowler, played softball and shuffleboard, enjoyed square-dancing, playing cards and was an avid reader. Bruce wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida for eighteen years and was active in multiple service projects. In later years, he enjoyed spending time at McDonalds, and Dersheys Café playing cards with his cronies, and made friends easily.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicki (Ron) Waggoner and Michelle Redman; his son, Scott Amos; grandchildren, Keli (Mark) Chapman, Kimberli (Frank) Gablowski, Kristen (Craig) Bivins, Hillary Ormes, Amanda Girven, Nikole Walter, Corrie Amos; great-grandchildren, Makela, Ian, Austin, Dawson, Faith, Keigan, Jourdan, Brayden, Landen, Piper, Joey, Aaliyah, April, Aziah, and Abel; brother, Jerry (Elaine) Amos, as well as extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Duane (Jan) Amos and his first wife, Jean Amos Pfauth.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring, 2022.

Angela Lyn Lawrence

Angela Lyn Lawrence, age 71, of Ovid, Michigan passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital, Lansing, Michigan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Angela was born in Owosso, Michigan on January 25, 1950, the daughter of Bill and Betty (Shinabery) Aldrich She graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1968. On October 9, 1989 she married Robert L. Lawrence Jr. in Sevierville, Tennessee. She retired from Federal Mogal after 30 years of service retiring in 2006. She enjoyed golfing, working in her flower gardens, she also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s school events. Angela also had a gazing ball collection. Bob and Angie enjoyed their weekend getaways traveling.

She is survived by husband Robert Lawrence; her children: Terry and Sheila Huss, Cheri Lynch, Erin and Derek Cuthbert, and Dayna and Ryan Bancroft; 11 grandchildren: Tori Huss (Chris Ormes), Kaden Huss, Emma and Cody Bosma, Noah Lynch, Evan Lynch, Molly Lynch, Camren Cuthbert, Karigann Cuthbert, Tyler Bancroft, Joey Bancroft and Mikey Bancroft; her father Bill Aldrich; brother-in-law, Larry Smith, sister-in-law, Debbie and Ron Simpson: and sister-in-law, Cheri and Wayne Bowen. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her mother, Betty, her sister, Carol Smith.
