Christmas in St. Johns is December 3 and 4

 

Mid-Michigan is putting on its holiday best, and that includes the twelfth Homegrown Production of Christmas in St. Johns variety show on December 3 and 4. A delightful mix of songs, skits and stories, this production features performers from all over Clinton and Ingham counties. There will also be a special appearance by the Browning Family from October’s comedy “Leaving Iowa.”

Friday, December 3

– St Johns Peppermint Parade followed by tree lighting 6:30 p.m.
– Homegrown Productions holiday variety show “Christmas in St. Johns” 7 p.m.
– Holiday Market downtown St. Johns

Saturday, December 4

– 18th Annual Christmas Festival Craft Show 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clinton County RESA building
– Free kids’ games and crafts noon – 3 p.m.
– Homegrown Productions holiday variety show “Christmas in St. Johns” 7 p.m.


City Manager resigns

The St. Johns City Commission has announced the retirement of City Manager Jon Stoppels. He resigned as city manager effective November 5.

The Commission and city staff appreciate Jon’s four years of dedication to the city and its residents and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

St. Johns Deputy City Manager Dave Kudwa is Acting City Manager. Both he and City Treasurer Kristina Kinde will cover all City Manager responsibilities.

The City Commission will start a search for a new City Manager soon.


Sparrow Clinton Hospital nurses honored

Sparrow Clinton Hospital nurses (from left) Heather Fink, Sally Batis, Marcy Snyder, Paula Wiles, Regina Buhr, and Dana Stevens were recently honored with the Pay It Forward Award by More to Your Door Magazine St. Johns.

The award, presented by Publisher Bill Stephan, recognizes individuals and groups who give back to their communities. The nomination came from grateful patient Brenda Terpening, noting the nurses’ professional excellence and deep compassion throughout her wellness journey.


The Mercantile Bank donates to SafeCenter in St. Johns

Becky VanCamp from Mercantile Bank of Michigan presented a $1,000.00 check to SafeCenter Executive Director thereby supporting the work with survivors in Clinton County.

Mint City Singers to perform Friday, December 10

 

The Mint City Singers will be in concert on Friday, December 10 at 7 p.m. at the Wilson Center Auditorium.

The group will perform A Gaelic Blessing, Winter Wind, Christmas Pops Trio, Follow That Star, Gesu Bambino, The Very Best Time of Year and more.

The Mint City Singers are directed by Stephen J. Easterling and accompanied by Jeff Richards.

Free will offering at the door.


Army-Navy Game Fundraiser dinner is Saturday, December 11

Prime Rib Sandwiches, Soup, Salad and desserts for $15 will be served from 3:30 p.m.un til 7:00 p.m. or until all is gone. The Lounge opens at 2:00 p.m.

50/50 raffle drawing at 6:00 p.m.

Proceeds of the dinner and raffle benefit the 8th District Leadership Development Fund
