Prosecutor Spagnuolo launches pro-law enforcement billboard campaign

Law enforcement officials pictured with Spagnuolo include Sheriff Lawrence Jerue, Bath Township Chief Lyle Lindemulder, Saint Johns Chief David Kirk, Clinton County Commissioner Ken Mitchell, DeWitt Township Chief Mike Gute, Ovid Chief Al Goodrich.

Clinton County Prosecutor Tony Spagnuolo (R-DeWitt), announces the launch of a public awareness campaign across the county in support of law enforcement officials. The campaign consists of two highly visible billboards with Spagnuolo pictured with law enforcement officials from communities within Clinton County and the tag Entering Clinton County: Where we Back the Blue and Take Crime Seriously.

Spagnuolo took over the role of prosecutor following the November 2020 election. Since then, he has worked hard to strengthen the relationship between his office and local law enforcement agencies. While admitting that nationally, there is a discussion to be had about policing and law enforcement procedures, Spagnuolo has been very impressed by the fairness, professionalism, and dedication among those serving Clinton County’s communities.

“Since taking over this office, I’ve really gotten to know many law enforcement officials and have built great relationships with each department in our county. These are hard-working professionals that don’t get enough credit for what is often very thankless work. I wanted to show my support for them and the service they provide to our families and communities,” said Spagnuolo.

Spagnuolo held a fundraiser in the fall to raise the funds needed to produce and install these billboards, raising over $6,000 from a bipartisan, regional group of individuals that wanted to show their support.

One billboard is located on US-127 North, between Lake Lansing and Coleman Roads, and the other is located on East Street (Old US-27) North of Sheridan Road. Both will run from December 6, 2021 through mid-January 2022.

Fill Up A Cop Car is December 11

On Saturday, December 11 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Law Enforcement officers throughout Clinton County will be asking for your help. The goal is to Fill The Cop Cars with groceries.

Officers will be at your local grocery stores with the purpose of helping to fill our local food banks with non-perishable food items.

Police Officers chose their profession so that they can help others. During this time of year they often experience families in need but don’t have the ability to help directly.

By filling their cop cars, they can see to it that those who need a helping hand can get it. They are asking that you purchase an extra item or two and help them help those in need. The back seats of the patrol vehicles are usually used to transport people that have run afoul of the law. Help us put them to good use.

Officers will be at the following locations in Clinton County:
– Kroger, 900 S. Business 127, St. Johns
– Wal-Mart, 1165 Superior Drive, St. Johns
– Bath Township Hall, 14480 Webster Road, Bath
– Monticello’s Market, 16912 Marsh Road, Bath
– Village Food Pride, 501 S. Main Street, Ovid
– On Herbison Road near the south DeWitt Meijer driveway A fire truck and police vehicles will be parked in the Herbison Road cul-de-sac

All food collected at these locations will be donated to local food banks in Clinton County. The officers of the St. Johns Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Bath Township Police Department, DeWitt Township Police Department and Ovid Police Department appreciate your generosity during this holiday season.
