SafeCenter Scramble Golf Outing scheduled for Saturday, June 11
SafeCenter Domestic and Sexual Violence Services of Clinton and Shiawassee Counties will be hosting their first annual “SafeCenter Scramble” Golf Outing next Saturday, June 11, 2022 beginning at 9:00 am at Corunna Hills Golf Course. All proceeds from the event will benefit programs and services provided to child and adult victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence served by the agency in both counties.

The cost is $200 for a team of four ($50/individual). Registration includes lunch sponsored by LAFUC, 9 holes of golf, the chance to win one of three gift baskets, and a 50/50 raffle!
By attending this event and giving to SafeCenter, you partner in the mission to Empower, Advocate, Educate, and Prevent and provide essential services to adults and children who are in dangerous and potentially lethal situations. Your contribution also provides SafeCenter with the ability to partner with other community organizations across the area and hold those who seek to do harm to others accountable for their actions. We can’t do this work alone. Take a stand against Domestic and Sexual Violence, support SafeCenter, and help make our community a safer place to live, work, and play for all.
Arts Council offers Outdoor Sketching Classes June 15 and 16
Join Andrea Czarnik for her Outdoor Sketching classes. Outdoor or plein air sketching gives the artist the opportunity of seeing their subject from different and more creative angles than would be provided through reference photos. These classes will be a total of 4 hours, split over two days in 2 hour classes, at Andy T’s Farm Market, where there are plenty of options for creative objects to draw and unique perspectives. The classes will be held on June 15 and 16 from 1-3 p.m.
A few supplies are needed for this class include: Canson Mixed Media Sketchbook, 12 watercolor pencil set, an ink pen, sharpener and eraser. Also bring a lawn chair, water bottle and other necessities like sunscreen and an umbrella.
The cost for this class is $50 total. The maximum number of people for this class is 8, so sign up soon before they are gone. Students will need to come the gallery to pay for this class before meeting

Call-in Coalition sponsoring Pride Fest June 18
The St Johns Call-in Coalition has scheduled its first event for 2022 on Higham Street between Clinton and Brush in downtown St. Johns on June 18, 2022 from 12 p.m .- 4 p.m.

Special Olympics Area 28 Golf Scramble is June 18
Mark your calendars June 18, 2022 for the 26th annual Special Olympics Area 28 in Clinton County Golf Scramble at the Emerald Golf Course. Continental breakfast, 18 holes with cart, luncheon, raffles and prizes are all included for only a $75 entry fee.
Organizers are looking for golfers and sponsors to make this outing a success. The money raised helps pay for equipment, uniforms, transportation and much more. Area 28 wants to reach out and include as many children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Special Olympics as possible and safely resume activities.
All Special Olympics programs and activities are provided at no cost to the athletes and their families. There is no state or federal funding. Area 28 is run strictly by volunteers and relies upon the generosity of contributions.

Good News Kitchen, a ministry of St. John’s Lutheran Church, began serving free lunches on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 511 E. Sturgis St. in St. Johns, the corner of Business 27 and Sturgis St. You may stop by and grab a free lunch to go for yourself, your family, a friend or a neighbor. Meals are free for everyone, and all are welcome to come although donations are always accepted and appreciated.

Take & Make Craft Kits – All the necessary materials for a fun, take-home craft will be available for pick-up at the beginning of each month. All ages.
Summer Scavenger Hunt – Pick up a checklist at the front desk, then search the library for hidden images. Small prizes for all successful hunts. New scavenger hunts at the beginning of each month.
Family Storytime – Stories, music, movement. Designed for ages 1-3. StoryWalk® Open House – Join us as we debut a new StoryWalk® story at this drop-in family program featuring crafts, activities, and face painting by Miss Sharon. Friday, June 24, 4:00-6:00. This program will take place at the Larry Martin Pavilion at Motz Park
Euchre Club – We gather the fourth Friday of each month for a fun, free, social, night of euchre. Round-robin style, with no buy-in. June 24, July 22, August 26, 6:00-8:00. Register with or without a partner. Advance registration is required, and is available 4 weeks prior to the event.
Family Fun in the Garden – Make a colorful garden stake, and try freshly-made strawberry ice cream during this open house-style program. Thursday, June 30, 1:00-3:00. All ages welcome; Children younger than 5 must be accompanied by an adult.
Chef’s Surprise – Young chefs ages 6-9 can join us for a cookiepalooza! Tuesday, July 5, 2:00-3:00. Registration is required, and began Tuesday, June 7.
All Aboard for Healthy Smiles! – Shelley Treynor from the Mid-Michigan District Health Department will be a guest reader at this program filled with stories and activities all about teeth. Children ages 5-8 are invited to join us on Thursday, July 7, from 3:30-4:00. Registration is required, and begins Thursday, June 9.
