Special Olympics Area 28 Golf Scramble is June 18
Mark your calendars June 18, 2022 for the 26th annual Special Olympics Area 28 in Clinton County Golf Scramble at the Emerald Golf Course. Continental breakfast, 18 holes with cart, luncheon, raffles and prizes are all included for only a $75 entry fee.
Organizers are looking for golfers and sponsors to make this outing a success. The money raised helps pay for equipment, uniforms, transportation and much more. Area 28 wants to reach out and include as many children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Special Olympics as possible and safely resume activities.
All Special Olympics programs and activities are provided at no cost to the athletes and their families. There is no state or federal funding. Area 28 is run strictly by volunteers and relies upon the generosity of contributions.

Family Fun Information Night will be June 21
The Great Start Parent Coalition and the Great Start to Quality Central Resource Center are co-hosting a Family Fun Information Night for Clinton County families on June 21 from 5:50-7 p.m. Families with children ages 0-12 are encouraged to come the Clinton County RESA Educational Center located at 4179 South U.S. 27, just 2.5 miles South of St. Johns.
Organizers will have local vendors with informational tables set up outside on the playground where you have the opportunity at your leisure to stop by the vendor tables. The Michigan Learning Channel/PBS, MSU Extension, Head Start, Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Preschool, Briggs District Library, Sleepy Hollow State Park, St. Johns Parks and Recreation, and Michigan Wildlife Conservancy are just some of the program vendors that will be at this event.
This is a great way to connect with other families as you enjoy free children activities and light refreshments. There will also be free gently used books available for children to take. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the CCRESA Educational Center gymnasium.

Virtual Parent Cafe series begins June 23
Clinton Great Start and Caring and Sharing Family Life Services are hosting a virtual Parent Cafe on June 23, 2022 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. The theme this month is Maintaining Inner Peace When Parenting a Child with Challenging Behaviors.
At the Cafes Clinton County parents and caregivers have meaningful, guided conversations about what matters most – our families and how to make them stronger. You can talk with other parents in a confidential and judgment free space, meet new people, learn about community resources, and share parenting experiences.

Don’t forget free lunches on Tuesdays
Good News Kitchen, a ministry of St. John’s Lutheran Church, began serving free lunches on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 511 E. Sturgis St. in St. Johns, the corner of Business 27 and Sturgis St. You may stop by and grab a free lunch to go for yourself, your family, a friend or a neighbor. Meals are free for everyone, and all are welcome to come although donations are always accepted and appreciated.

UW-Madison announces Spring Dean’s List
The University of Wisconsin-Madison has named Abby Vitou of DeWitt, School of Business, to the Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.
Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester.
