Susan H. Pease
Susan H. Pease of Ovid, died at her home on Tuesday March 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 75.
Susan, or Sue as she was known, was born on April 7, 1947, in Lansing MI, the daughter of Warren and Geraldine (Neal) Preston. She was the oldest of five siblings, together growing up in and around the Lansing area. After graduating high school she enjoyed an adventurous life working for many cattle ranches in the Western U.S. where she would develop her skills with horses. Also during her career, she worked as a secretary for the Girl Scouts of America, and helped inmates get back on the right track at the Clinton County jail during her time working for the Sheriff’s department. Later, she met the love of her life Harold Peace. They were married on Jan 2, 2000 and together they enjoyed over 23 years of marriage, through it all they were by each other’s side until her final breath.
During her life Sue could often be found with her beloved horses. She had a passion for taking care of horses at her farm, where at one point she had over 30 horses on her property, and grew an enthusiasm for teaching others how to ride and take care of their animal. She found great joy in sharing her love of horses to others as she was an active member in the Clinton County 4H horse program. She led the Pony Posse riding group where she was remembered as being a wonderful instructor. Sue had a very fiery soul and if you knew Sue you knew she would put one hundred percent of her effort into everything she did. Most of all Sue will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as she would always be there for her family no matter what.
Sue is survived by her husband Harold; children Russ (Michelle) Merritt, Jeff (Sherry) Merritt, Dan Hough, Kevin (Mary) Pease, Shari (Mike) Yawn, and Steve (Michelle) Pease; sisters Kathy Preston and Peggy Neal; and many loving grandkids and great grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Leanna Merritt; and sister Pamela Graham.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clinton County 4H, in honor of Sue. The family is being served by McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel.
