What you need to know for this Friday evening and beyond

You’ll find goodies large and small from holiday décor to special gifts for all ages at the Silent Auction in the St. Johns Depot on Friday, December 7.
The auction is held in conjunction with the Festival of Lights Santa Parade, which begins at 5:45 p.m. and ends with the lighting of the tree near the depot on Railroad Street. The auction will begin at 5:00, giving you time to stop in and browse before the beautiful parade. Then be sure to place your bids on items that intrigue you by 8:00 PM when the bidding closes.
At 7:30 p.m. the Wilson Collective will present a concert featuring Ann Arbor based singer-songwriter and Michigan Emmy recipient Kitty Donohoe.
General Admission seating to the concert is $10 with 50% of the proceeds going into the Wilson Center Auditorium lighting project. The WC Auditorium is located at 101 w. Cass St. in downtown St. Johns, just south of the courthouse. Tickets will be available at the door.
Fill a Cop Car on Saturday, December 8

The annual Fill A Cop Car event is this Saturday, December 8 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Officers will be at the following locations:
– Kroger, 900 S. Business 127, St. Johns
– Wal-Mart, 1165 Superior Drive, St. Johns
– Bath Township Hall, 14480 Webster Road, Bath
– Monticello’s Market, 16912 Marsh Road, Bath
– Village Food Pride, 501 S. Main Street, Ovid
Toys for Tots Benefit is December 8
On Saturday, December 8 the Elvis and Friends “Toys for Tots” Benefit Show will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Wilson Auditorium. Doors open at 5 p.m. Featured artist covers include Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Strait and Elvis!
The admission price is $10 or an Unwrapped Toy.

Fraser fir featured at museum
A beautiful Fraser Fir tree, decorated by one of the volunteers, is featured in the library area of the parlor at the Paine-Gillam-Scott House Museum. The tree was donated by Art Wainwright.
Decorated with handmade ornaments, vintage glass ornaments with candles in holders from the days when real candles where placed on real trees and lit on Christmas Eve. A bucket of water was placed by the tree, just in case of a fire.

The museum is open Wednesdays 2- 6 p.m. and Sundays 1-4 p.m. through Sunday, December 16.

Mint City Singers to be at Wilson Center December 14

The Mint City Singers will be in concert at the Wilson Center Auditorium on December 14, 2018 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The December show will include standards such as Bye, Bye Blackbird, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, and You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To, plus the holiday favorites White Christmas and You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch!
The group is directed by Ellen Hoard with Jeff Richards on Piano, Scott Harding on Percussion and Jenny Wilcox on Flute.
Lansing Concert Jazz Band will be at the Wilson December 15
A special 18-piece Lansing Big Band, along with singers Kelly Sandula-Gruner and Dan Templin, will present their annual Holiday Concert featuring Jazz Standards along with special Holiday Classics. This wonderful Christmas program will take place on Saturday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Center Auditorium located at 101 W. Cass St. in downtown St. Johns, just south of the courthouse.
General Admission Tickets will be sold at the door – Adults $10, Seniors & Students $5 – Kids under 12 Free.
Brass Band presents Holiday Concert December 16
The elite brass band, the Mountain Town Brass, is made up of some of the premier brass players in the State of Michigan. This exceptional Holiday Concert will feature the best in traditional and seasonal brass music.
The concert will take place on Sunday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Center Auditorium located at 101W. Cass St. in downtown St. Johns, just south of the courthouse! There is no admission charge – donations will be gratefully accepted.
