Michael P. Palmer

Michael P. Palmer passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the age of 75.

Michael was a 1961 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School and attended Ferris State University. He was a proud member of the Jaycees and the Lions Club of St. Johns. He and his family attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, MI. As an Independent Insurance Agent at Allaby & Brewbaker Insurance Agency, he enjoyed taking care of his clients and serving his community.

Michael leaves behind his wife Eethel Ann Palmer, children; Patrick Palmer, Heather Frechen, Scott Palmer, Catherine Peterson and Michael C. Palmer. He also has a brother, Terry Palmer and Brother-in-law, Gerry Kesler. Michael has 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., April 30, 2019. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Lions Club Leader Dogs for the Blind.


Anna E. Seibert

Anna E. Seibert died Monday, April 15, 2019 at the age of 83. She was born February 16, 1936 in Neiderviebach, Germany the daughter of Christian and Maria (Sachsenhauser) Krenn. Anna came to the United States in 1962 and became a citizen in 1967. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church loved her role as a homemaker and mother. Anna married David Seibert in 1974 and he preceded her in death in June of 2018.

Surviving are her children, Angie (Kurt) Ramsay, Ken (Brenda) Barber, Bob (Janell) Barber and Delynn Reist (Michael VanEtten); eight, grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Ferdinand, and twins, Christian and Joseph who was killed in WWII and one sister, Maria Krenn.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church 511 E. Sturgis, St. Johns with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 3-7 PM Wednesday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home , St. Johns. Memorials may be made to the Marjorie Seibert Scholarship Fund at St. John’s Lutheran Church 511 E. Sturgis St. Johns, MI 48879.


Douglas A. Bauer

Douglas A. Bauer died Friday, April 12, 2019 at the age of 72. He was born June 3, 1946 in Lansing, MI the son of Paul and Florence (Bigelow) Bauer. Douglas earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Michigan State University and was a retired elementary teacher. He taught for many years at Elsa Meyer Elementary in Corunna, MI. Douglas was a member of the MEA and an avid MSU Spartan sports fan. Doug also served as a Page for the State House of Representatives.

Surviving is one sister, Elyse (Dick) Fogle of Holt, one brother, Barry (Betty) Bauer of St. Johns; his extended family brothers, Jerry Benjamin, Jeff Benjamin and sister, Jacqulyn Gerhold Dickinson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sharyl Powers and Colleen Barnes and one brother, Richard Bauer.

Following Douglas’ wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

The family was assisted with these arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home , St. Johns.


Stephen Bervia Smith

Stephen Bervia “Butch” Smith, age 71, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital, Lansing, MI. Stephen was born in Charlotte, Michigan on April 2, 1948 the son of Bervia Arland and Mildred Irene (Jolley) Smith. Butch married Debbie on March 26, 2004. Butch resided most of his life in St. Johns and Florida. Butch served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved to ride motorcycles and was an old car enthusiast.

Private family services to be held at a later date.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Smith of St. Johns, MI; son Troy Smith of Fox Lake, IL; son Todd and Sandy Smith of Plainfield, IL; daughter Theresa, and Brett Legler of Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren: Kelsie, Nicholas, Sarah, Ryan, Madison, Troy, Jr. and Konner. Butch was preceded by his parents and his sister Yvonne Denherder.

Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.

Pauline Francis Baur

Mrs. Pauline Francis Baur died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the age of 98. She was born May 29, 1920 the second of four daughters to John and Wreatha (Deyou) Ward in Crystal, Michigan. She married George Joseph Baur in Bryan, Ohio, May 29, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1981.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Wentworth (James Moose), and son, David Baur; her five grandchildren, Doug Smith, Debbie (Greg) Anthony, Kevin (Jenn) Baur, Kellie (Ryan) Koneeny, and Kurt (Elizabeth) Baur; five great grandchildren, Maddie Anthony, Kaylee Anthony, Aubrey Baur, Braydan Baur and Jordan Peters, as well as many nieces and nephews, including special niece Winona (Jerry) Parish of Texas. Pauline was also preceded in death by sons Frank and Stephen and her sisters, Gertrude Needham, Bette Taylor, and Joyce Sandmeyer and daughter-in-law, Judy Baur.

Pauline worked as a waitress at The Chickee Shop in Lansing to put herself through Beautician School. She worked for a short time at a beauty shop, but her greatest calling was being a homemaker and mother; and to continue doing perms for family, friends, and neighbors out of her home, Pauline maintained her Beautician License until she was 97 years old. Some of Pauline’s most treasured things were her family, playing BINGO as well as sewing and crocheting doilies.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Rev. Dr. Rodney Kalajainen officiating. A committal service at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns will follow. The family will receive relatives and friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, April 15 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Redeemer United Methodist Church 13980 Schavey Rd, Dewitt, MI 48820 in memory of Pauline or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
