Julie Lynne Lewis

Julie Lynne Lewis, age 55, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at her home.

Julie was born in St. Johns, MI on November 15, 1962, the daughter of Roy and Irene (Motz) Armbrustmacher. She resided most of her life in Texas and Michigan. Julie enjoyed crochet and cooking, loved horses, her dog Morgan, and her 2 cats. She attended school in Fowler and St. Johns. She worked various jobs.

She is survived by her mother Irene Armbrustmacher of St. Johns, MI; 2 sisters: Joan Armbrustmacher of St. Johns, MI; Debra Goodman of Portland, MI; 5 nephews: Zachary, Adam and Nicholas Goodman also Joshua and Jeremy Cooper; 2 great- nephews: Carson and Connor Cooper, great-niece Mila Jo Cooper; 2 aunts: Carol Frechen of St. Johns, MI; Gladys and Bruce Hall of Portland, OR; and 3 uncles: Paul and Bonnie Armbrustmacher of Laingsburg, MI; Charlie and Judy Armbrustmacher of Grand Ledge, MI; Mark and Diane Armbrustmacher of St. Johns, MI; and many cousins and friends. Julie was preceded in death by father and her grandparents Joe and Ann Motz also Marian Goodrich, Herbert Armbrustmacher, and Guile Guenther.

Private Family Services will be held at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.


Waneita Maxine Croad

Waneita Maxine Croad, age 82, of Maple Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018. Waneita was born September 13, 1935 in Gratiot County, the daughter of Verlin and Carriebelle (Davis) Upham. She graduated from Fulton High School with the class of 1953. Waneita worked and retired from the US Postal service as a Post Master. She was a member of the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church and a card club for over 50 years. She was a former classroom mother, brownie and girl scout leader. Waneita enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, camping and was an avid sports fan for the Lions, Tigers and Spartans. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Dave (Pamela) Croad, Cheryl Graham, 6 grandchildren Jeremiah, Michael, Sarah, Mandi, Amy, Amber, 4 step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a brother Harold (Maggie) Upham. Waneita was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law David Graham.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11 am at the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church with Pastors Jerry Kissling and David Winsor officiating. Interment will be in New Haven Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Dodge Funeral Chapel, Middleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church Youth Group or the American Diabetes Association.


Cindy Lou Dennison

Cindy Lou Dennison, age 64, of Ovid passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Sparrow Health Systems in Lansing.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the United Church of Ovid, 131 W. Front St. Ovid, MI 48866. Rev. Ron Hansen will be officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid. Family will receive friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.

Cindy was born on February 14, 1954 in Alma. She attended Corunna High School, graduating in 1972 and a year later she married Kenneth Dennison in Owosso on August 11, 1973. Cindy was a ParaPro for Head Start Preschool for the past 22 years and a past Middlebury Township Clerk. She was very involved with the youth being a 4-H, cub scout and girl scout leader. This involvement continued in her church at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Owosso where she was a youth group leader and Awana commander. Cindy was a collector of many things and a monarch butterfly enthusiast. She enjoyed traveling with her husband searching out waterfalls and spending time with her family.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth; 3 children: Scott (Paula) Dennison of Ithaca, Heather (Bruce) Hunt of Roscommon, Becca Dennison of Eastpointe; 5 grandchildren: Katie, Dillon, Deacon, Devin and Leilani; father, James Martin and mother, Juanita Martin; 4 siblings: Dan (Julie) Steffenhagen, Durk (Debbie) Martin, Cheri Jo Martin, Dena (Roger) Squires and many nieces and nephews.

Genevieve M. Martin

Genevieve M. Martin, age 88 of Fowler, MI, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI, on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Mark Simmon officiating. Visiting will be held on Thursday an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Genevieve was born in Clinton County, MI on March 18, 1930, the daughter of Oral and Ilene (Martin) Simpson. Genevieve married Urban Martin on January 14, 1950 in St. Johns; Urban passed away on May 30, 1986. Genevieve was a lifetime member of the Fowler VFW. She loved to play cards at the Portland Senior Center. Spending time with her family was a very important part of her life. Genevieve resided most of her life in Fowler.

She is survived by her 6 daughters: Virginia and John Ballard of St. Johns, MI; Sandra Kolp of Fowler, MI; Janet and Lesley Kohagen of Fowler, MI; Sharon and Paul Weber of St. Johns, MI; Karen and Fred Kohagen of St. Johns, MI; Sue and Gary Smith of Decatur, AL; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Rhynard of St. Johns, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and a brother.
