Linda A. Werbish

Linda A. Werbish, 72 passed away at Sparrow Hospital on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Linda was born on November 20, 1947 the daughter of Carlton and Mary (Wedsworth) Marker, of Mishawaka, Indiana. She graduated from Penn High School, class of 1966 in Mishawaka, Indiana.

On November 27, 1982 she married John P. Werbish in Lansing. Linda was a hair stylist and operated Blondies Hair Styling on Jolly Road in Lansing for 38 years. Linda loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, her co-workers and salon patrons, vacationing in Las Vegas, shopping, watching TV, especially the food channel. She was an avid fan of Michigan State sports, collecting MSU memorabilia that she displayed at her salon.

Linda is survived by her husband, John, step children Jamie J. Werbish of St. Johns, John J. Werbish of East Lansing, and Jenna L.W. Robbins of St. Johns; grandchildren, Meredith and David Robbins, brother Allen (Peggy) Marker of Bremen, Indiana, niece and nephew, Stacy (Nick) Marker Miller, Kyle Marker and great nieces and nephews, Claire, Oliver and Miles Miller.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home in St. Johns on Friday, November 29, 2019, 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2:30 P.M., with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. until service time. Pastor Kathy Leydorf – Keck will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Rev. Fr. Raymond J. Urbanek

Rev. Fr. Raymond J. Urbanek, age 79 of Ovid, MI, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Ovid, MI, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Bishop Earl Boyea as Celebrant. Rev. Urbanek will lie in state Monday, December 2, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. at the Church with a Rosary being prayed at 7:30 P.M. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Mt. Morris, MI.

Rev. Raymond was born in Wyandotte, MI on April 8, 1940 the son of Joseph W. and Lillian E. (Wolniewicz) Urbanek. He was a priest in the Diocese of Lansing, serving at Good Shepherd Parish in Montrose, St. John Parish in Fenton, St. Mary Parish in Mt. Morris and most recently at Holy Family Parish in Ovid. Fr. Raymond just had the honor of celebrating his 50th year anniversary as a Priest. Prior to his work in the Diocese of Lansing, he was a Benedictine Monk for a number of years and a priest serving at St. Scholastica Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was the Faithful Friar of the Fourth Degree of the Owosso Council.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Eugene and Stephen Urbanek and his sister Mary Ann Brown.

Norma Jean George

Norma Jean George, age 79 passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

Norma was born on April 16, 1940 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Ralph H. and Mary Alice (Speckert) Wilson. She graduated from Ovid High School in 1958 and had worked at Owosso Memorial Hospital until changing career paths in the dental field where she worked at J. W. Bates, D.D.S. for a number of years.

Norma stayed at home to raise her children, Lori and Brian Ross until the opportunity to drive school bus for 17 years which she enjoyed dearly. She returned to the dental field working as an office manager for a dentist in Corunna, MI before following her passion in 2007 of helping others participating in the Ovid Red Hat Society and a volunteer for Respite. It was through Respite, where she has helped this lovely lady, Mary Bartlett, and they have become the best of friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies and cookies for her family and friends. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing various card and board games with family and friends at any opportunity. One of her favorites was playing euchre. Even through her recent health issues she courageously fought not to let it interfere with her ability to go and play Euchre.

She was a member of the Ovid Acme Society for several years and also is a member of the Ovid United Church. Norma married her love Frank George on October 25, 1974 and he preceded her in death July 8, 1999.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori (Dan) Larner of Okemos, son Brian (Theresa) Ross of Lansing. Grandchildren, Kelsie (Taylor) Condit, Braden Hasse, Dillon and Gabe Ross, and Blake and Aubrey Larner. Step daughters; Carolyn Brown, Sally Y, and Nancy Shaffer; sisters; Carolyn (Dave) Stilwell and Patricia Seidel both of Ovid and sister in law, Karen Wilson, several dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins and step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, step mother Esther Wilson, brother Rev. Edward Wilson, brother in law Carl Seidel, step son Robert Brown, granddaughter, Stephanie Brown, and special friend Ron McClelland.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home in St. Johns on Friday, November 29, 2019, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M, and Saturday, November 30th from 10-11 A.M. Celebration of her life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Melanie Young officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI. Paul James Voisin

Paul James Voisin, age 85, of St. Johns, MI, entered Eternal Life on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI, on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns with a Vigil Service at 7:30 P.M.

Paul was born in Mt. Pleasant, MI on July 28, 1934, the son of Ernest J. and Emma (Rademacher) Voisin. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Mt. Pleasant and continued to keep in touch with his classmates every year at Homecoming. Paul served his country in the United States Army in the Signal Corps.

On June 2, 1962, Paul married Charlotte Ann (Simon) Voisin at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, MI. Together they shared 57 years of marriage.

Paul was employed by General Motors for 33 years as a machinist, retiring in 1996. He spent his retirement years as a skilled woodworker and working with stained glass, sharing his skills at home and in the community. Paul and Charlotte enjoyed traveling. He also loved photography, especially taking photos of his family. Paul was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council #3281, the Clinton County Arts Council and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Paul is survived by his wife Charlotte Voisin of St. Johns, 3 sons: Mark Voisin of Haslett, James Voisin of St. Johns, and Glenn (Terrilynn) Voisin of St. Johns; 2 daughters: Kathleen (Scott) Dimond of Lafayette, CO, and Julie (Lance) Greenlee of Mackinac Island; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Karen (Michael) Golden of Holt and brother-in-law Gilbert Elias of Okemos. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: John E. Voisin of Mt. Pleasant and Glenn A. Voisin of Saginaw; and 2 sisters: Nora Mae Downing of Traverse City and Mary Lou Elias of Okemos.

Margaret Dale Rosekrans

Margaret Dale Rosekrans passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the age of 85. Margaret was the only child of W.H. Hughey and Margaret D. Francis and born in Memphis, Tennessee on June 18th, 1934. While raised in the south with her mother and 4 aunts, our mother made her way to East Lansing after marrying her love, Carl A. Rosekrans, on June 21, 1952, 3 days after turning 18 years of age. Together they had 5 children and Margaret was an active stay at home mom.

She had a love for needlework, sewing and many other creative endeavors. Later in life she was able to turn these loves into an active business by opening The Yarn Studio in East Lansing. She also worked as a framer at Frames Unlimited and then spent the last decade of her working life enjoying her role at Country Stitches in East Lansing. She was an avid lover of cats and dogs and to the end, visits by her pet friends made her smile.

She is survived by her children Michael (Lynn) Rosekrans, Mark (Stephanie) Rosekrans, Eric (Betsy) Rosekrans, Clay (Shawn) Rosekrans and Carla (Jerry) Green along with 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 1987, brother in-law Keith Rosekrans and sister in-law Janice Todosciuk.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Addington Place in DeWitt for the wonderful care and compassion they gave our mother the last few years.

Memorial contributions may be made to Addington Place, DeWitt, Michigan or to the Capital Area Humane Society in her memory. A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place at a later date.

Dean Lee Bohley

Dean Lee Bohley, age 60 of St. Johns passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his home.

A funeral service was held on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.

Dean was born on December 1, 1958 to Herbert and Virginia (Hickmott) Bohley in Lansing. He graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1978. Dean served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1983. Dean worked as a farmer all his life. He also loved to fish.

Dean is survived by his father, Herbert Bohley; his sisters, Melissa (Brad) Wilson, Lorie (Todd) Devereaux, and Irene (Jerome) Daniels; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Virginia Bohley.
