St. John’s Lutheran Church to hold drive-in service
St. John’s Lutheran Church has announced that they will be holding a drive-in church service on Easter morning at 10:30 a.m.
You are warmly invited to join them in the church parking lot. They will practice physical distancing by having you remain in your vehicles as you listen to the service on 93.1 FM. There will be a special parking layout facing the church steps. Look for directions and helpers as you pull in.
Thanks go out to Mark Holden for his technical assistance in figuring out how to use the FM transmitter.
Let’s pray that the technology works. If it doesn’t, they will have given it their best shot, and they will send you on your way with a blessing and a smile.
Compassion in Action to distribute food
Compassion in Action will be distributing food curbside on Wednesday and Friday, and going forward as supplies last.
Please note the times have changed.
Wednesday food pickups will be from 12-2:00 and on Fridays from 10-12:00 at Gracepointe at the Southpoint Mall. Call or text 815.878.9923 to schedule.
They encourage you to pick up for neighbors and family who can’t get out and will give extra food as needed. They will also deliver to your porch if you can’t get out.
All pickups and donations will be held at Gracepointe Wesleyan Church in St. Johns in the Southpoint mall.
Counseling from the comfort of your home
Clinton County Medical Center Psychological Services is now offering Teletherapy.
Teletherapy is a video chat, like Skype or FaceTime, using a platform that is HIPAA compliant so you can still meet with your therapist in the privacy and comfort of your own home.
We as a community need to work together as much as we can, and we could probably use a little socialization.
If you’re working from home or still at your place of business, we understand things are uncertain right now and appreciate everything you as a community are doing to help one another. Now is the time to take care of yourself and seek some emotional care.

Provide outreach to the homeless
Edwin from Housing Services Mid-Michigan
St. Vincent de Paul in St. Johns, as well as other local agencies, received an appeal from Housing Services Mid-Michigan who provide outreach to the homeless population in the Tri-County area. H.S.M.M. works with the most vulnerable in our community experiencing homelessness.
They were able to provide over 40 coats, 3 sleeping bags, hats, scarves, gloves, socks and hand warmers. Please continue to pray for those experiencing homelessness and for those in positions to serve them.
MMDHD prepares for influx of Covid-19 positive individuals
The Mid-Michigan District Health Department (MMDHD) serves Clinton, Gratiot and Montcalm Counties, and they are preparing for an influx of individuals who have tested positive for Covid-19, and are either:
1. Not severe enough for hospital admittance, or
2. Have recovered enough to warrant discharge.
These individuals will still need to be quarantined for 14 days.
They are trying to prepare for those who have no home to go to due to homelessness or those who cannot go back to their homes-because they could expose an immune compromised individual living within their home.
At this time, the MMDHD has 2 hotel locations that will serve as shelters. This may change as the needs for shelter changes.
Below is a list of needed items that they are actively trying to secure at this time. They will be packaging supplies for each person to have a 14 day quantity and they would like to prepare for 25-30 people.
Travel sizes may be appropriate for some items.
Bottled Water – Gatorade – Can Openers – Clorox Wipes – Small Kitchen Size Trash – Bags – Cough Drops – Thermometers – Small Bottles of Tylenol – Bars of Soap & Hand Soap – Dish Soap – Shampoo – Toothpaste – Brushes/Combs – Rolls of Quarters (for Laundry) – Laundry Soap – Toilet Paper – Paper Towel – Shaving Crème – Razors – Deodorant – Q-tips – Dish Sponges – Diaper Wipes.
