Thomas G. Moore

Thomas G. Moor,e age 69, of St. Johns, MI passed away on September 6, 2020. Tom was born on February 28, 1951 in St. Johns, MI the son of Ernest K. and Pauline D. (Munger) Moore. He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School and received his Associates Degree at Lansing Community College. He worked at F. C. Mason Co as purchasing agent and in sales for many years.

Tom is survived by children, Rachel (Lany) Burnett of Lansing, Kalem Latimer of St. Johns, Aaron (Jamie) Latimer of Holt, grandchildren Riley Burnett and Lucas Latimer; sister, Pam (George) Rosner of Laingsburg and the kid’s mom, Cindy Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Sarah Terlouw officiating with burial to follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Donations may be made the to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Betty J. Hicks

Betty J. Hicks, age 93, passed away with her family at her side on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Grace Haven Assisted Living Center. She was born as Juliany Medvedik on February 18, 1927 in Clinton County MI and was adopted by Michael and Neva (Crabb) Wesner. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1944 and received an Associate’s Degree from Lansing Community College.

Betty worked as the admitting clerk at Clinton Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. On April 28, 1945 she married Marshall R. Hicks and he passed away in 1976. Betty was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, active in the Choir, the Women’s group and Youth Fellowship group. She was president of the Hazel Findlay Volunteer Group, loved flowers, gardening and she had raised chickens and sold eggs.

Survivors are her children, Louise M. (Rex) Ferguson of St. Johns, Lorraine L. (Loren) Simons of St. Johns and Russell G. (Anita) Hicks of DeWitt; grandchildren, Matthew (Kate) Upton, Rhonda (Greg) Oslosky, Becky (Steve) Schafer and Ken (Katie Durden) Ferguson. There are 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings Leslie and Russell Wesner, George, Joseph, John, Mary and Stephen Medvedik, and sister Virginia McInerny.

Graveside services will be held at Mt. Rest Cemetery on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Memorials may be given to Care Team Hospice, 5401 Gateway Center, Ste. D, Flint, MI 48507 or Lowe Church. Arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home.

Joy L. Williams

Joy L. Williams died Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the age of 59. She was born May 9, 1961 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Alethan and Lois (Ross) Chaffin. Joy was a graduate of Haslett High School, Class of 1979 and earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Lansing Community College. She has also been awarded the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for Infant/Toddler through the CDA National Credentialing Program.

Joy loved spending time at home on her “mini” farm where she raised chickens, goats, steer and horses. Throughout her life she’s had a menagerie of animals. She was working as a Pre-School teacher at Haslett Child Development Center and has been with them for over 30 years. On August 28, 1993 she married William “Bill” Williams and he survives her.

Also surviving is a daughter, Becky (Patrick) Van Camp; two sons, Brad (Becky) Williams and Billy (Susan) Williams; six grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Porter and Janet (Gary) Wheeler; one brother, Jerry Chaffin and several nieces, nephews and close friends that will dearly miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Jean Studemeyer and one brother, David Chaffin.

Following Joy’s wishes cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring or summer 2021.
