What do Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and a duo of singing guitar-players have in common?

Did you know that you can become a Boy Scout or Girl Scout starting in first grade? And you can remain in Scouts past high school? Both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts will have demonstrations and activities set up for participants to find out what it is like to be a Scout. The Boy Scouts will have tents set up they use for camping, a First-Aid station, knot-tying and various crafts. The Girls Scouts are planning to play some Girl Scout Games, possibly teach some Girl Scout songs and have the kids do an art project to go along with a Safety Patch. The scouting activities and information will be displayed near the Depot between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. Also watch for Sharon Shutes, that wonderful face-painter, to be back.
Starting at 7:00 pm, the audience will be treated to John Kelly and Dawn Artman performing near the gazebo for the Depot Family Concert Series. This energetic duo performs a wide variety of musical selections covering many different styles and eras. Audiences have delighted in singing along while John and Dawn present familiar songs by The Everly Brothers, Janis Joplin, Neil Diamond and more. Their voices blend seamlessly with rich vocal harmonies, accompanied by John’s skillful guitar playing and Dawn’s delightful keyboard flourishes.

John Kelly has performed many times in several area venues over the years, including the Performance Shell in the park and both Wilson Auditorium and the St. Johns High School auditorium. The groups he has performed with include Flashback, Slingshot, The Kelly Family Band and the Mid-Michigan Festival Orchestra. Dawn Artman has performed at the Performance Shell with Flashback.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy this great musical duo.
