Bike to Build fundraiser to benefit Habitat for Humanity

image.jpgBicyclists can put the pedal to the metal on Sat., Aug. 21 to support Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County and Habitat for Humanity of Lansing. Funds raised will benefit Habitat’s mission of affordable housing in both Lansing and Clinton County.
image.jpg“We’re really excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Lansing for this fundraiser,” says Sue Carroll, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County. “It will be a fun event with proceeds set to help us with our mission of providing safe, decent affordable housing for those in need.”
Carroll says there is a way for everyone to participate in this fundraiser.
“Of course we are looking for bike riders to register for t he event. But we are also looking for volunteers to help us the day of the event. Volunteering is a great way to come out and support Habitat for Humanity,” says Carroll.
Riders can chose from three routes. The 20-mile ride begins from the Habitat Lansing office to DeWitt and back; the 45-mile ride goes to Wacousta and Westphalia before stopping in DeWitt and returning to Lansing; the 75-mile route includes DeWitt, Wacousta, Westphalia plus a tour through the country near Sleepy Hollow State Park. Each route stops in DeWitt for lunch at the DeWitt Ox Roast. All routes include refreshment stops and SAG support until 3 p.m.
The ride begins at the Habitat Lansing office at 1941 Benjamin Drive in Lansing. Registration and start is from 8 am to 10 am. Parking is available at nearby Otto Middle School, where there will be a parking lot attendant until 3 p.m.
Ride fees are $25 before Aug. 3 and $30 after that date. Everyone registering by Aug. 3 will receive a T-Shirt. To register, download the registration form at http://www.habitatlansing.org/
Participants must wear a helmet and are encouraged to make sure their bike is in good condition. Bringing a bottle of water and money for emergencies is also recommended.
