St. Johns city residents are invited to take part in our 17th annual “National Night Out” event Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The community can come together, once again, to get to know their neighbors and join forces against crime. Bring the whole family and enjoy inflatables, games for the kids, food and drinks – all free!
Members of the St. Johns Police Department and the City of St. Johns Parks and Recreation Department will be coordinating the event. Police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness and cooperation are important themes of the “National Night Out 2010” program.
Due to the generosity of the St. Johns Lutheran Church, the main event will again be held in their parking lot at the corner of Sturgis St. and Business 27. Youth T-ball games from the City of St. Johns summer rec programs will be played. Free hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks provided by Big Boy Restaurant, McDonald’s and Burger King will be served. Cindy’s Ice Cream will once again be there serving up free cones for everyone.

There will be inflatables sponsored by Bee’s Motors, M&M Restaurant Supply, Osgood Funeral Home and Olympian Tool as well as games for the kids. The St. Johns Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs will assist with the kid’s activities and grilling. Mobile Laser Kombat will be back for a second year for the kids and adults as well. Also Clinton Area Ambulance Service and the St. Johns Fire Department will be displaying their vehicles and equipment. Everyone’s favorite dog, Firepup, will be on hand to entertain the kids.
National Night Out provides a unique opportunity for St. Johns to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative, police-community crime prevention efforts. It is essential that all citizens of St. Johns be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs and violence in the city of St. Johns.
Please join us on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the St. Johns Lutheran Church and help “take a bite out of crime!”
