Joan Ann Smalldon
Joan Ann Smalldon, age 68, of St. Johns, MI passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at home with her family by her bedside.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Jeff Heimsoth will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 26, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Joan was born in Norway, Michigan on March 22, 1942, the daughter of Andrew J. Edidon and Anna (Strauss) Ebidon and lived in St. Johns most of her life. Joan married Jack Smalldon in St. Johns on April 22, 1962.
Joan had worked at K-Mart and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul both of St. Johns. She was a member of TOPS 1634. Joan was a caring and gentle soul who had the spirit of an angel. She had a smile for everyone who crossed her path. Her hobbies included interior decorating, gardening and her 2 grandchildren. Family was very important to her and each of us will miss her. Goodbye dear wife, mother, grandma and sister.
Surviving are her husband Jack Smalldon of St. Johns, son David Smalldon of St. Johns, daughter Tammy (Garry, Jr.) Gooldy of Hanover, two grandchildren; Garry III and Lily Ann Gooldy, five sisters; Jean Ferrari of Mt. Juliet, TN, Joyce Erdelyan of Mt. Juliet, TN, Yvonne Settle of Australia, Ellen and Burry Venstra of Niagra, WI and Judy and Jerry Ciezadlo of Des Plaines, IL, twin brother Jerry Ebidon of Marinette, WI, and three sisters-in-law; Marilyn Ebidon of Aurora, WI, Mitzi Ebidon of Niagra, WI and Irene Ebidon of Kingsford, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, infant brother, four brothers; Kenneth, Robert, James and Don Ebidon and two sisters; Beverly Brown and Marion Haynes.

Wanda Hambleton
Wanda Hambleton, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the age of 81. She was born in Perrinton, MI on July 16, 1929, the daughter of Bernie and Edna (Bennett) Feighner.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Marsha Crowell of St. Johns, granddaughter, Stephanie McDonald of Grand Rapids, special friend, Eugene C. Oberlander, sisters, Bonnie Henning, Rosie Patterson, Mary Murgittroyd, and brother, Jim Feighner, as well as many nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Jeff Hambleton, son Cary Hambleton, and brothers, Max, Bobby, Karl, and Dale Feighner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at South Bingham Cemetery, with Pastor Cayle Beagle officiating. Brandon D. Barrix
Brandon D. Barrix, 26 of Ovid, MI died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 in East Lansing. Brandon was born on Dec. 6, 1983 in Lansing, MI the son of Billy Dean and Adrianne (Bocek) Barrix. Brandon played the piano, guitar and enjoyed writing poetry.
He is survived by his mother Adrianne and step-father Frank Winkler Jr. of Ovid, brother Jeremiah J. Barrix of Ovid, step-brother Billy Barrix of Mason, Grandparents Maggie Barrix of Mason, Frank and Jerri Winkler Sr. of Elsie, and several cousins. Aunt, Suzie (Ronnie) Nethaway of Elsie and uncle, Tony Bocek of Port Huron, MI.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating.

Mary Moritz
Mary Moritz died August 20, 2010 at the age of 89. She was born January 29, 1921 in Dallas Township, the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Eisler) Damon. She graduated from Fowler High School in 1938 and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. On May 14, 1941 Mary married Louis T. Moritz and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2009.
Mary is survived by two sons, Clare Edward (Ann) Moritz of Grand Ledge, David Charles (Susan) Moritz of Elsie, two daughters, Kathy (David) Mensing of Tucson, AZ, Ann (Alan) Becker of Potterville, four grandchildren, five step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, and two sisters, Rosaline (Fredrick) Witt of Tucson, AZ, Elaine Phinney of Clinton, UT. Along with her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Lou in 1950.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fowler, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Paul Clark officiating and her grandson, Pastor Randall Moritz assisting. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 22 at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Lucille VanAmburg
Lucille VanAmburg, died August 20, 2010, at the age of 90. Born in Carson City, Michigan July 23, 1920 the daughter of L. Dewey and Hazel (McGraw) Teall. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Higgins Lake. Lucille married Kenneth J. VanAmburg July 23, 1938 and he preceded her in death September 9, 1998.
She is survived by two sisters, Lorine Hildabridle of Lansing and Betty (Dewey) Morley of Laingsburg, several nieces/nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil and Russell Teall, and three sisters, infant Sabina Teall, Margaret Seperic, and Dorothy Vanecek.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, burial at South Bingham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home
Sherry Ann Ladisky
Sherry Ann Ladisky, age 76, of St. Johns, Michigan entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at her granddaughter’s home.
Funeral Services will be held at Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, Michigan on Monday, August 23rd at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Chuck Emmert officiating.
Visitation will be held on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan.
Sherry was born in St. Johns, Michigan on April 12, 1934, the daughter John L. and Edith (Rook) Sanders and lived all of her life in St. Johns. She was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School, with the class of 1953.
She was the widow of Richard Ladisky whom she married on August 24, 1967 in Lansing. She was a homemaker and an amazing mother and grandmother. Sherry worked at the St. Johns Egg Station, at Banniga’s Day Care and Hazel I. Findlay. She also enjoyed camping. She loved her dogs and cats, and was also a member of Duplain Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughters Lynn Ann (special friend Dave Allen) Pyle of Ithaca, Michigan, Robin (Randy) Doyen of St. Johns, Michigan, Margaret (Gary) Simpson of St. Johns, Michigan, her son Joseph John Ladisky of St. Johns, Michigan, 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and special friend William Bearndt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, William John Bearndt, her granddaughter, Geanna Pyle, and her brother, Robert Rook Sanders.
Memorials may be made to McLaren Hospice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, Michigan.
Richard S. Anderson
Richard S. Anderson, age 67, died August 15, 2010. He was born June 7, 1943 in St. Johns, MI to Dorr M. and Margaret L. (Nienaber) Anderson, II. Rick graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns in 1961 and from Michigan State University. He was owner/operator of Anderson International Travel until 2009.
Surviving are two sisters, June (Robert) Cary of Cassopolis, MI and Kay (Jerry) Tiedt of Grand Rapids, MI; one brother, Dorr M. (Danna) Anderson, III of Mexico; 5 nieces; 4 nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 3-4 PM.
