Pre-Reader Storytime and more
“Going to the Dogs” Pre-reader storytimes for independent readers ages 4 thru 6 is coming this fall. The children will listen to wag-your-tail stories, participate in games, musical movement, crafts and more. Sessions available are Tuesday mornings 10:30 – 11:00 am, Oct. 12th – Nov. 16th or Thursday evenings 6:30 – 7:00 pm, Oct. 14th – Nov. 18th *(No session on Nov. 11th). Registration is required and opens on Tuesday, September 14, 2010.
National Library Card Sign Up Month
September is Library Card Sign Up Month. Getting a library card is very simple. Briggs Public Library serves the residents of the City of St. Johns, Bingham, Greenbush, Bengal, Dallas, Olive, Riley and Westphalia Townships. If you live in one of these governmental units you are eligible for a library card. All you need to do is stop by the Library with documentation of your current address, it could be a driver’s license or a bill, and fill out the registration forms. Parents need to complete the forms for their minor children. A Library card provides children with books and technological resources to assist them in having a successful school year and Library cards are a wonderful tool to make use of in tough economic times. Consider getting a card for yourself or your family members this month.
Fall Fundraiser
Join us for our Fall Fundraising Event featuring Linda Hundt owner of Sweetie-licious Bakery Café on Friday, September 10th at 6:30pm here in the library. Linda will talk on how she got into the pie making business, the National awards won, her Rolling Pin collection and more. The cost is $10 per person with tickets available from staff at the Circulation desk or at the door the night of the event. Linda’s award winning pies will be available to buy whole or by the slice at the fundraiser. Proceeds will be used for the purchase of Library materials.
Lapsit Storytime
You can still register for “Fetch Your Favorite” Lapsit Storytime! Babies 12 to 24 months with a participating adult can enjoy simple “doggie tales”, music, creative movement and take-home crafts. Sessions available are Friday mornings 10-10:30 am Sept. 10th – Oct. 15th OR Monday evenings 6:30 – 7 pm, Sept. 13th – Oct. 18th. This is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the world of books and social interaction.
