What do I think?

Wow, the ladies of “The View” sure did a hatchet job on Bill O’Reilly last Thursday! They got all excited because of his “politically incorrect” statement saying Muslims destroyed the Twin Towers on 9/11 and killed nearly 3,000 people. What the ladies thought he should have called them is “terrorist or Muslim extremist.” Whoopi and Joy got up and walked out on their own show – they were totally offended by that evil O’Reilly. I would have thought that they’d express their disagreement with O’Reilly, like grownups, and then move on to another subject.
Bill’s been on the show before and they know what he’s like so maybe they shouldn’t invite him anymore if they personally can’t stand the guy. If they do invite him again maybe they should require him to follow a script written by the ladies themselves. It seems like they want sole ownership of the opinions expressed on the show so let them have it.
I find it kind of strange that these two liberated women were defending Muslims knowing what their religion appears to teach them. I don’t think the ladies of The View could handle being second class citizens in any Muslim nation.
How many of the women on The View would have been stoned by now?
We watched the show Friday expecting some kind of explanation of what happened the day before but they had a rerun while they were taping new shows. Monday they started out the show with a discussion on what happened the previous Thursday. Barbara Walters scolded them like she was their mother (she writes the checks) but nothing’s changed.
In the future I hope their guest will be careful about expressing their opinions and if they do, make sure they’re politically correct so they don’t upset the ladies.
Is that Jerry Springer show on yet?

We, like a lot of Americans, give money to charities and food to the food pantries. It’s not a lot of money or food, but every little bit helps. Charities have become a big business and people make a living at it. There’s companies that do nothing but get on the phone and call people to try to get them to donate to whatever charity or political organization they always say we support.
They must keep better track of me than I do!
They are relentless. They’ve been calling and calling over the years and it’s got to the point that we won’t donate anything over the phone. Besides that there are too many scams out there.
They’ll tell us we donated a certain amount of money last year. Then they’ll ask if they can count on us for that same amount again this year? They always say we gave them more then we really do. Kind of a little white lie going on there.
We tell them to send something in the mail and when we get it, we’ll file it along with the other junk mail.
For now we’ll stick with our known charities and the rest of them will keep on calling. Even when we ask to be taken off their list we still get called. They believe very few people will protest being called because of the hassle it is dealing with these companies and they’re probably right.
It makes us mad to think that when we started donating to our first charity years ago, they sold our name to others. It was kind of a stab in the back, like we were labeled “suckers.” Even getting caller I.D. didn’t help because some of the calls come through as “out of area.” We can’t tell if it’s friend or foe.
To make it even worse the good old phone companies are playing both sides for every dollar they can get. For us they say they’ll give us the information about who’s calling and for the others they say they won’t.
Sounds like a politician . . . doesn’t it?

We are about to go through a time of peace and quiet. No, we haven’t entered the Twilight Zone. The elections will soon be over and we won’t have to watch those stupid political commercials on television until sometime next year.
It’s my guess that some dummy will announce his candidacy for president at least by summer.
The important question in this election is, will we base our vote on which candidate had the biggest bucket of mud to sling, or will we choose the candidate who is more likely to represent us. Me, I don’t want the candidate that claims they’ll give me everything. That’s not realistic.
I think a chicken in every pot is our responsibility.
Until the next time . . .
