Aerial View of Whittemore St. Bridge
by Barry Bauer

This photo, taken circa 1930s, shows an aerial view of the Whittemore St. Bridge over the old railroad tracks in the upper right hand corner.
In the lower right hand corner is where Smith Oil is today. Visible are four fuel tanks. Heading east is the Emmons Cider Mill which is gone today. Beyond that is the bridge and Whittemore St. or as it’s know today, US-127 BR.
Just north of the train tracks (left) is the Wolverine Stockyards and to the north of that is Burton Mixer & Mfg Co. That’s Steel St. that runs next to Burton Mixer from the bottom of the photo to the top.
In the lower left hand corner is where Federal-Mogul had their office parking lot. The numerous unidentified buildings shown in this photo are gone now.
In center of this photo is where Central Michigan Lumber Co. used to be located and is now occupied by F. C. Mason’s distribution center.
Missing from the photo are several residential homes
