Traditional Snowmen Decorating Contests require a lot of snow. The one being run by the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce doesn’t need any. They are selling 4 foot snowmen, made out of corrugated plastic that will withstand the winter weather. They sell for $20 each. After you purchase a snowman, you decorate it and then display it in a yard or window. There will be two contests – one for residents and one for businesses.
The Chamber will award a $25 Chamber Buck Gift Certificate to a Clinton County resident with the best decorated Snowman and a $25 Gift Certificate to a Clinton County business. Judging will occur on Wed, Dec 15 by staff, Ambassadors and Board members of the Chamber. The winners will be announced in the local papers and the winners will be invited to ride in the 2011 St. Johns Mint Festival Parade with their decorated snowman. You never know, if this catches on, Clinton County may someday be known around the state as the “Snowman County”.
To order your snowman, stop in the Chamber office in the CC RESA Building at 1013 S US 27 in St. Johns, call 989-224-7248 to reserve one or email them at ccchamber@power-net.net. Snowmen will also be on sale at the Chamber’s Christmas Festival in the CC RESA Building on Sat, Dec 4 between 8 am – 3 pm.
The snowmen are currently being cut and will be available by December 1, 2010.
