Vincent “Jiggs” Geller
Vincent “Jiggs” Geller, died November 30, 2010, at the age of 86. He was born in St. Johns, on March 26, 1924, the son of Joseph and Carla (Pung) Geller.
Vincent is survived by his wife Carolyn whom he married October 24, 1945.
Also surviving are their children, Janean (Joe) Keilen of St. Johns, Jeff Geller, of Sanford Florida, grandchildren, Cortney (Steve) Parks, Melissa (Brad) Agee, Andy Keilen, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Norman, Carl, Stanley, and Raymond.
There will be a short graveside service on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Leydorf officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 pm to 7:30 pm at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 East Cass St., St. Johns. Contributions may be made in Jiggs’ memory to The City Rescue Mission of Lansing, 607 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. 48912.


Donald E. Ike
Donald E. Ike, age 91, died on November 27, 2010. He was born in St. Johns on December 10, 1918, the son of Herman and Eva (Buck) Ike and lived in the state of Michigan most of his life. Don retired from the State of Michigan D.N.R. in 1974 after 21 years of service and was a veteran of WW II. Don married Ruth Ewer in St. Johns on September 6, 1941 was a member of the Masonic Lodge #238, O.E.S. #69, Michigan State Retirees, and a life member of D.A.V.
Surviving family members are: daughter, Ruthann Creamer of Lakeside, CA., granddaughter, Pamela Ferraioli of Phoenix, AZ., grandsons, Michael Creamer of Casa Grande, AZ., and James Creamer of Santee, CA., two great grandchildren, Caitlin Creamer of El Cajon, CA., and Blake Ferraioli of Phoenix, AZ., several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers, Herman Eugene Ike, Robert C. Eick, William Ike, Raymond Eick, sister, Frances Luther, and General Bugzee Ike.
There will be no services. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Home.


Dorothy A. (Tasche) Carson
Dorothy A. (Tasche) Carson, age 85, died November 28, 2010. Born in Detroit, MI, on February 27, 1925, the daughter of Frank O. and Grace (Miller) Tasche. Dorothy was a member of the First Congregational Church and volunteered at Clinton Memorial Hospital and the Baby Pantry. She retired from the Clinton County Clerk’s office. Dorothy married Avrill M. Carson on May 11, 1957, and he preceded her in death in 1977.
Surviving is her son, Richard C. (Shari) Carson of East Lansing, son in law, William S. Trump of CA, grandchildren, Hannah Carson, R.J. Carson, Sarah Trump, Charles Trump, Kirk Whitney and Clint Whitney. In addition to her husband Averill, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret J. Mason and two daughters, Margaret J. Whitney and Kathryn A. Trump.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., January 15, 2011, at the First Congregational Church, with Rev. Matt Olsen and Rev. William Trump officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to Sparrow Hospice Services, PO Box 30480, Lansing, MI, 48909, or Briggs Public Library, 108 E. Railroad St., St. Johns, MI 48879.

Jene Markman
Jene Markman, 83 of St. Johns, MI died Monday, November 29, 2010 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor surrounded by her loving husband of 64 years and family. Jene was born on Feb. 19, 1927 in Perrinton, MI the daughter of Lloyd and Daisy (Cook) Johnson. She graduated from Perrinton High School and on Aug. 18, 1947 she married Roland Markman in Kentucky. Jene had worked at the St. Johns, J.C. Penny Store, Lakes Jewelry and MSU mail room for several years. She enjoyed reading, going to the Casino, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and just having fun.
She us survived by her husband, Roland (Marty); son Gary (Barbara) Markman, daughters Marti Sue and Betty (Merle) Grandy all of St. Johns; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; the cat, Susa; a brother, Richard (Levonne) Johnson of Midland, MI and sisters, Connie (Maurice) Stutzman of Lincoln, Nebraska and Phyllis Wakefield of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, son John and brother Maynard Johnson.
At her request, there will be no services or visitation. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.


Robert C. Betz

Robert C. Betz died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the age of 82. He was born August 18, 1928 in Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan the son of Carl A. and Elizabeth W. (Tester) Betz. Robert was a member of Lowe United Methodist Church, enjoyed square dancing and restoring antique cars and tractors. He was a Navy veteran, loved farming and retired from General Motors in 1988. On October 14, 1950 he married Dolores Palmer and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past October.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores, one daughter, Carol (Mark) Winsor of St. Johns; 3 sons, Gary (Sally) of DeKalb, IL, Gregory (Lisa) of St. Johns and Brian (Alesia) of DeWitt; eight grandchildren, Benjamin (Alexa) Betz, Danny Betz, Lydia (Ross) Hubbard, Jeremy (Angela) Winsor, Jason (Jessica) Winsor, Breanna, Jamison and Jordon Betz; three great grandchildren, Roman, Maya and Gavin Hubbard; two sisters, Lois Mallory of Traverse City and May (Jerry) Pulliam of St. Johns; two brothers, Duane Betz of Beaverton, MI, Ron (Jessie) Betz of Sheridan, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille, Fay, and Wanda and six brothers, Don, Clare, Russell, Carl, Bill and Jerry.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Kathy Leydorf officiating. Interment will follow at Lowe Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8PM Friday, December 3, 2010 and one hour prior the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lowe United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Hazel Findlay Country Manor or McLaren Hospice.


Leonard Sisson, Jr.
Leonard Sisson, Jr. passed away November 27, 2010 at the age of 82. Born December 29, 1927 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Leonard Sr. and Levina (Lewis) Sisson. Leonard retired as a lead lineman with Consumers Energy. He proudly served in World War II with the 11th Airborne Division. Leonard married Virginia Couch on December 23, 1954 and she preceded him in death on July 11, 1994. Leonard then married Patricia Musson Nethaway, combining families, on June 9, 1996.
Surviving Leonard are his loving wife, Patricia, children, Mark (Kim) Sisson, Rhonda (Gary) Trochlil, Vicki (Kyle) Van Deusen, Paula (Tom) Strachota, Robert (Valerie) Nethaway, Bill (Tammy) Nethaway, Glen (Barb) Nethaway and Kim (Brian) Darling, 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way , sister, Inez (Keith) Briggs and many nieces and nephews. Along with his first wife, Virginia, Leonard was preceded in death by his sisters, Adella, Evelyn and Kay, brothers, Albert and Clifford and two grandchildren, Jerry and Katie Nethaway.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid with Pastor David Hudgens officiating, burial following at Fairfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed in the form memorials to a charity of his family’s choice. Neil Rossow
Neil Rossow died suddenly Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the age of 59. He was born July 10, 1951 the son of Wayne and Viola (Sehlke) Rossow. Neil was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, Class of 1969 and earned a bachelors degree in accounting from Michigan State University. He enjoyed golfing, camping, traveling, fishing and playing cards. He was an avid MSU sports fan, especially football and basketball and he loved to cook and have family dinners. Neil was an accountant with St. Johns Business and Tax Service.
Surviving are two daughters, Meagan Rossow and Abby (Jonathan) Heiss all of Grand Rapids; four sisters, Sharon (Mark) Witt, Karen (John) Burgess and Bonnie Bowen all of St. Johns, Roseanne Faggion of DeWitt; one brother, Bruce of Webberville and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Scott.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8PM Friday. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church 8990 Church Rd. St. Johns, MI 48879.


Nathan Zigler

Nathan Zigler, 31, passed away November 24, 2010. He was born on November 5,1979.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm Thursday December 2, 2010 at the Salem United Methodist Church on West Maple Rapids Rd. in St. Johns. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Ronald McDonald House-Lansing, or Ele’s Place-Lansing. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Home.


Anna Motz
Anna Motz, age 94, passed away on November 22, 2010 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor. She was born in Chicago, IL, April 2, 1916, the daughter of Stephan and Anna (Skrha) Michalek. She married Joseph Motz on July 18, 1936 in the Duplain Colony. He preceded her in death in 2004. She was a farmer’s wife and homemaker. Anna was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge in Bannister, the Extension Club in her younger years, enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, going to Zephyrhills, FL, during the winter for 25 years with Joe, and traveling for Czechoslovakian music and dances. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Irene Armbrustmacher of St. Johns and Gladys (Bruce) Hall of Portland, OR. Five grandchildren: Joan Armbrustmacher and Julie Lewis of St. Johns, Debra Goodman of Portland, MI, Elizabeth (David) Liebert of Portland, OR, and Major Stephan (Dana) Hall of West Point, NY. Ten great grandchildren, Alan, Clara, Josiah and Erik Leibert, Katie Beth Hall, Joshua and Jeremy Cooper, Zachary, Adam and Nicholas Goodman, one sister, Ludmila “Mickey” Besko of Ovid, MI. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, Stephan and Anna Michalek, brother, Stephan Michalek and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Peace.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 PM Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Osgood Funeral Home, with Tom Bradley officiating, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will received friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Sparrow Clinton Hospital, W.O.E.S. (Ovid-Elsie High School), Meals on Wheels –Clinton County, or the ZCBJ Lodge, Bannister.
