Changes to Library Catalog and more
The Library’s current Integrated Library System or ILS is no longer compatible with the Microsoft products on the market. An Integrated Library System is the software that keeps track of the Library’s patron and collection databases. The Library has upgraded to a new system and staff received two days of training this past week in how to operate it and what features it has to offer the public. So whether you access the Library’s catalog at home or in the Library it will look very different. There are a number of new features that will make it easier for patrons to track there Library account and enhance access to the Library’s collection. Look for more information in upcoming articles on how to take advantage of the new system.
Chapter Chatter
Registration is required and will open on February 10th for “Chapter Chatter” for Early Readers. Staff selects and reads a chapter book(s) over the course of 4 weeks to early reader listeners along with other fun stuff like snacks, crafts or games that go along with the stories. This program is for ages 6 through 8 (independent listeners.) Chapter Chatter program dates are Thursday evenings, March 3 – March 24, 7-7:30 pm.
Snowflake Guessing Contest
Emily VanElls won the snowflake guessing contest with her guess of 130! There were 145 snowflakes captured in the container. Watch for our February guessing contest coming soon.
Eggstra! Eggstra! Read All About It!
Join us for some “eggceptional” stories, “eggsuberant” games, “eggcellant” crafts and all around “eggcitement” that we’ve hatched to celebrate March is Reading Month 2011. Ages 3-6 with an adult can “eggsperience” our “Yolks on You Breakfast” Tuesday, March 1st, 9:30-10:30 am.(we provide an egg mcmuffin, “yolk” and drink) and the “Great Eggspectations” Lunch Tuesday, March 8th, 11:30-12:30(you bring a bag lunch-we provide a treat and drink.) All ages can enjoy “Bedtime Egghaustion” Tuesday, March 15th,7-8 pm.(we provide a “Humpty Dumpty” cookie & milk.) Registration is “Eggspected” and required for all 3 programs and begins on Tuesday, February 1st.
Library Closure:
The Library will be closed Monday February 21st in observance of the President’s Day Holiday. The Drop Box on the Library porch will be available for all returns throughout this closure.
