Dorothy M. Ashenfelter
Dorothy M. Ashenfelter, 89, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2011. Dorothy was born on January 30, 1922 in Riley Township, the daughter of Raymond and Lucille (Forbis) Chant. Dorothy married William Ashenfelter in Temperance, Michigan on February 27, 1943 and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1990.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Lyle Huguelet) Rasmussen-Huguelet and Sandra (Eugene Wong, M.D.) Ashenfelter-Wong; grandchildren, Mark and Eric Rasmussen and Alexander and Sarah Wong; 4 great grandchildren, brother, Lee (Linda) Chant, and special caregiver, Janet Currie. Along with her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her grandson, Kirk Rasmussen, great granddaughter, Samantha Rasmussen and sister, Mary Deshotel.
As per her wishes, Dorothy is being cremated and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to St. Peter Lutheran Church or the Clinton County Meals-on-Wheels.

Todd W. Bissell
Todd W. Bissell died at the age of 46 on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his home in Maple Rapids. He was born in St. Johns, Michigan on June 20, 1964, the son of Richard and Dorene (Jolls) Bissell.
Todd is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Bissell of Charlotte, mother, Dorene Bissell, of St. Johns, brother, Rod (Sharon) Bissell, sister, Dorinda (Mike) Townsend, niece, Tanya (Mike) Prohaska, nephews, Joseph (Justin Maynard) Bissell, Scott (Keri) Townsend, Josh Townsend, Andy (Michelle) Bissell, great niece, Hailey Prohaska, and great nephews, Brayden Townsend, and Bryce Bissell. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard, and grandparents, Mary Jolls, Oretha Bissell, and Paul Bissell.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2011, at the Abbott Chapel of The Osgood Funeral Homes in Maple Rapids, with Pastor Kathy Leydorf officiating. Burial to follow at Sowle Cemetery in Maple Rapids. The family will receive friends 2-5 p.m., on Sunday, at Abbott Chapel. In Lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to : The Jennifer Bissell Trust Fund c/o Citizens Bank. The family was served by The Osgood Funeral Home of St. Johns.
David S. Cederquist
David S. Cederquist, 83, of East Lansing, MI, formerly of St. Johns, died of natural causes February 13, 2011. He was a graduate of St. Johns High School and Albion College. David was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by UZ Engineered Products as the East Lansing Sales Representative for for several years.
David is survived by daughters, Jan and Lynn, sisters, H. June Whittaker of Elk Rapids, MI, and Mary Alice Smith of Tuscola, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
As per David’s wishes, cremation took place and private services will be held at a later date.
The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Home of St. Johns.
Ella Mae Witt
Ella Mae Witt, 88 of rural St. Johns died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Laurels of Fulton. Ella Mae was born in Riley Twp. the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Morris) Parkhouse and lived in Riley Twp. all of her life. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran church, a homemaker, and helped run the family farm. Ella Mae married Donald W. Witt on June 28, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1997.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna (Robert) Halfmann of Fowler, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and brother James (Margaret) Parkhouse of DeWitt. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Douglas Witt, son in law, Mark Feldpausch, and a great granddaughter, Brooke Becker.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Thursday, February 17, 2011 4-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Arnold Lawrence Wieber
Arnold Lawrence Wieber, age 79, of Ovid, MI passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Ovid, MI on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 and 6-8. A Rosary will be prayed on Monday at 6:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel, Elsie, MI.
Arnold was born in St. Johns, Michigan on April 13, 1931, the son of Anthony and Clara (Henning) Wieber. He married Lolamae Emery on June 21, 1950 in St. Johns, MI. Lolamae passed away on March 15, 2009. They resided most of their lives in Ovid. Arnold worked at Moore’s Chevrolet in Ovid for 20 years and then retired from Ovid-Elsie Area Schools after 22 years as a Bus Mechanic. He enjoyed golf and was an avid Tiger Baseball fan. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. Arnold and Lolamae were one of the founding families of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid.
He is survived by his son Duane and Brenda Wieber of Fremont, MI; daughter Donna Fruchey and Steve McGinnis of Elsie, MI; son Raymond and Allane Wieber of Ovid, MI; grandchildren Benjamin and Carrie Fruchey, Matthew Fruchey, Kathryn Fruchey and Mike, Alison and Jeff Thomas, Amanda and Matthew Ashmore andTony and Jessica Wieber; great-grandchildren Lily, Abby and Lauren Ashmore and Grant Fruchey; 3 sisters Yvonne Cornell of Midland, MI, Doris and Harry Scott of St. Johns, MI, Joann and Art Post of St. Johns, MI; sister-in-law Evelyn and Pete Peters of Williamsburg, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother Bernard Wieber.

Adeline D. Rademacher
Adeline D. Rademacher, passed away February 14, 2011, at the age of 83. She was born on December 15, 1927, in Fowler, the daughter of John and Eleanor (Thelen) Goerge. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Association, and Daughters of Isabella. Adeline retired from the bakery at Goff Food Store after many years of service. She married William Rademacher on May 21, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1999.
She is survived by one daughter, Rosemary (Neil) Feldpausch of Fowler, six sons, John of Dewitt, Thomas of Fowler, Clement (Jeannie) of Clio, Gery (Nancy) of Fowler, Daniel (Linda) of St. Johns, and William of AZ, 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, two sisters, Arlene (Ray) Griffin of Ovid, Janet Martin of Pewamo, four brothers, Reynold Goerge, Donald (Doris) Goerge and Gene (Agnes) Goerge all of Fowler, and Henry (Marcia) Goerge of St. Johns, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Robert and Anthony Goerge and infant brother and sister.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler, with rosaries being prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. Memorials made in memory of Adeline will be designated to a charity of her family’s choice. Betty M. Henley
Betty M. Henley of St. Johns, died February 13, 2011, at the age of 79. She was born on September 17, 1931 the daughter of Harold and Laura (Higbee) Larson.
There will be private services at a later date. Arrangements by Osgood Funeral Homes.
Bernice M. Esch
Bernice M. Esch died Thursday, February 11, 2011 at the age of 78. Born in Westphalia Township, February 1, 1933, the daughter of Harold and Viola (Simon) Platte and lived in the Pewamo area most of her life. Bernice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo and the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W.Post #3733, The Portland River Hatters, and several card clubs. She married Joseph P. Esch in Westphalia on Feb. 24, 1954 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2002. Throughout her life, Bernice enjoyed playing piano and cards, visiting people, parties, flowers, deer hunting, the great outdoors, and salt and pepper shakers.
Bernice is survived by one son, Robert Esch , five sisters, Kathleen Miller, Joann (Frank) Koenigsknecht, Rose Marie (Herman) Gensterblum, Ellen (Ken) Bailey, and Ann (Paul) Thelen, two brothers, Armon (Joanne) Platte, and Bernard (Sharon) Platte, in-laws, Charlotte Platte, Marguerite Platte, Julius (Jane) Esch, Paul (Mary Ann) Esch, Marie (Alfred) Hengesbach, and the Kramer Kids, Janet, Donna, Bev, Don, Gary and Sherrie. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Jerry, Edward, (Shirley), Delbert, and Beatrice Platte, in-laws, Louis and Alice Esch, Roy and Juliann Motz, and Herman Miller. Special thanks to: The compassionate and attentive caregivers at Heartland Health Care of Ionia and also the Heartland Hospice team, who provided so many vital services to keep her as comfortable as possible through her long illness. They were a great source of comfort to her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Charlon Mason presiding. The family will receive friends Monday, from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler with rosaries being prayed Monday 8 p.m. and Tuesday 3 p.m. with a scripture service being prayed Tuesday at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to V.F.W. Amelia (Emily) Anderson
Amelia (Emily) Anderson died on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at the age of 91. She was born July 31, 1919 in Queens, New York. Emily graduated from Central High School and The School of Comptometers in New York City, where she worked in several offices. After WWII, she married Warren S. Anderson on Feb 16, 1946 and moved to St. Johns in 1949. Emily worked at Julie K Shoppe in St. Johns and later at Jacobsen’s in East Lansing.
In earlier years, she enjoyed her bridge club, scrabble group and volunteering at the hospital gift shop. After retiring, she and Warren spent many winters visiting friends in Florida, until his death in 1986.
She is survived by daughters, Lorraine (Stephen) Wearley of Westfield, NJ and Barbara (Terry) Thurston of St. Johns; four grandchildren; Heather (Brian) Russell of Lansdale, PA, Marcelle Thurston of Olympia, WA; David (Cecilia) Wearley of Jersey City, NJ and Scott (Meredith) Wearley of Westfield, NJ; four great grandchildren; Cami and Delaney Russell, Sage and Giada Wearley and many nieces and nephews. Emily is predeceased by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 11AM at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Deacon Marv Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Sat., February 12 at 5-7 PM and Sunday before the service. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association (http://donate.americanheart.org).
