For Passport applications April 20
Diane Zuker, Clinton County Clerk is offering extended hours on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of accepting passport applications.
As of June 1, 2009, all travelers were required to have a passport for land border crossings.
This is not the first time the Clinton County Clerk’s Office has offered extra hours for passports. There have been four previous occasions the Clerk’s Office has opened for the sole purpose of accepting passport applications, all of which have been very successful according to Clerk Zuker.
If these special hours do not work for you, the Clerk’s Office accepts passport applications on a regular basis during their normal business hours. However this will all change effective May 1, 2011, due to new directives from the U.S. Department of State.
Clerk Zuker noted that the changes as a result of the mandates by the Department of State will have minimal impact on Clinton County customers. Through combined efforts, the Clerks Office has shifted the passport application processing over to the Register of Deeds Office.
After May 1st, the Clerks Office will continue to provide passport applicants with general information regarding passports both in the office and on their web page, in addition to taking passport photographs. The only difference customers may notice is the fact that they will have to execute their applications in the Office of the Register of Deeds.
Travelers who need additional information about passport regulations may visit the Clinton County Clerk’s passport web page at http://www.clinton-county.org/clerk/passport.htm or U.S. Department of State web site at http://travel.state.gov or may call the Clerk’s Office at 989-224-5140.
