Summer Reading Story-times and more
There are still slots available to register your child in our “One World, Many Stories” summer story-times. Bring your 12 to 24 month baby to our Lapsit Program on Friday mornings, June 10th to July 22, 10-10:30 am. It’s a great way to share books and music with your baby in a friendly and safe atmosphere.
Our second session of Toddler storytimes has a few openings yet. Share lots of fun with books, music and creative movement with your 2 or 3 year olds on Wednesday mornings, June 8 to July 13, 11-11:30 am.
The afternoon Pre-Reader session (1:30 to 2 pm), June 7 to July 12 on Tuesday afternoons has space left for you to sign up your child for stories from around the world. Take advantage of our “cool” atmosphere in the library on a hot Tuesday evening and bring your child to our Prime Time Storytime for 3 to 5 year olds, June 7 – July 12, 7 to 7:30 pm. They will enjoy tales from many countries and you can enjoy a half hour of browsing our collection! Registration is required for all storytimes and there is no fee involved.
Park and Read Program
The DNR and the Library of Michigan are offering the Park and Read Program again this summer. The Program allows Briggs Public Library resident cardholders to check-out a free one day vehicle permit for use at any Michigan state park or recreation area. This is a $6 savings. The PASS is valid for one use within seven days of check out and is for day use only, 8 am to 10pm. The Pass cannot be used for overnight camping or for access to boating access sites or ranges. Stop by the circulation desk for more information or to check out a PASS. Take time this summer to enjoy a good book in Michigan’s great outdoors.
Jr. Readers
There is still time to sign up for the Monday June 27th Jr. Reader program from 6:30-7:30 pm. Youth ages 7-9 can pick up a copy of the book Weird Stories from the Lonesome Café by Judy Cox at the Library desk. Game, craft, book discussion and menu of food choices from around the world are all part of this summer adventure.
Adult Summer Reading Program
The Adult Summer Reading Program returns this year with Novel Destinations. Starting June 6th adults 18 and over can fill out a simple review form for each book they read, and be entered for a chance to win great prizes from local businesses. One winner will be drawn each week during the program’s 8-week run, and at the end of July a grand prize winner will receive 4 tickets to a Lansing Lugnuts baseball game.
Stop by the library starting June 6th to register and see the list of available prizes.
