The 2011 St. Johns Mint Festival Pageant committee is still searching for 2-3 girls that would be interested in running for Mint Queen. You need to live in Clinton County and you must be between the age of 16-20 on the date of the pageant (Aug 10). Practices start July 25 and continue up to the pageant, not including the weekends.
It should be noted that the scholarship was recently increased from $1000 to $1500 for the Mint Queen and the 1st Runner Up will receive $500. A $60 sponsor fee, 2 head shot photos and a letter of reference must accompany the application.
The Mint Festival Entertainment Committee has three entertainment slots yet to fill. They are Fri, Aug 12, 3:30-4:30 pm (during Senior Citizens Day), Sat, Aug 13, 6:30-8:00 pm and Sun, Aug 14, 2:00-3:00 pm. All of these performance times will be on the stage just outside of the Main Pavilion (by the Mint Ice Cream booth). In lieu of payment you would have the opportunity to sell CD’s the day you are performing.
There are still openings in the Arts and Craft section of the festival. If you have homemade crafts to sell, please request your booth today. Spaces are $95 for the three days. Set up begins on Fri, Aug 12 at 9:00 am and vendors need to do all three days of the festival (Fri: 2-8 pm, Sat: 10 am-7 pm and Sun: 10 am-5 pm).
Finally, volunteers are still needed to help at various events throughout the weekend.
