Friends of the Maple River to meet

Wednesday, July 20 at Sleepy Hollow
The Friends of the Maple River will hold their Bi-Monthly meeting at Sleepy Hollow State Park on Wednesday July 20th.
This will be a picnic meeting for everyone interested in the Maple River and it’s watershed. The picnic meeting will start at 6:00 PM at the south Pavilion at the swimming beach at Sleepy Hollow State Park with an old fashioned picnic.
The State Park entrance is on Price Road approximately one half mile east of Shepardsville road.
The swimming beach south Pavilion is located approximately one mile north of the park entrance and is adjacent to the beach bathhouse.
The Friends of the Maple River will provide the meat dish,( hamburgers, hotdogs and brats), and guests are requested to bring a dish to pass.
There will be a program presented by Ms Katie Robinson, who is the outreach coordinator for the Sleepy Hollow State Park. Her program will include a history of the park, park management challenges and opportunities, and the management problems and challenges of Lake Ovid.
The State Park is in the Maple River watershed and Lake Ovid is part of the Little Maple River portion of the Maple River. There will also be short walking tour of the park. Attendees are requested to bring walking shoes and some insect repellant.
