What is borrowed must be returned.
That was the belief of members of Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary when they recently voted to return the name “Chicks for Charity” to the original owner, Tena Jegla, following its use during four successful golf outing fund raisers.
It was Ms Jegla who approached Auxiliary members with the “Chicks for Charity” theme, kicking off what has become an annual event. According to Auxiliary Fund Raising Chair Kathie Clock, the original concept Ms Jegla had for use of the name, was to provide a traveling theme to assist various non-profit fund raising groups. “We respect Tena’s purpose and realize it is time for her to be able to help other charitable efforts beyond Sparrow Clinton Hospital.”
Ms Clock went on to explain that beginning next year, the Auxiliary outing will be called “Gals ‘Fore’ Giving. As in the previous outings, play will be limited to women only and the day’s activities will follow the same schedule of events.
“I speak for our entire membership,” Ms Clock said, “when I extend sincere appreciation to Tena. Her thoughtfulness and our use of her “Chicks for Charity” name has allowed us to establish an annual fund raiser that already has a solid base for continued growth.
The most recent event was held June 23 and resulted in over $4,000.00 added to the Auxiliary’s treasury in support of Sparrow Clinton Hospital. According to Ms Clock, no date has been set for next year’s outing, but full details will be announced shortly after the first of the year.
