Ministerial Association to host Thanksgiving Worship Service

Tuesday, November 22, 2011
The community is invited to join the St. Johns Ministerial Association in their annual Community Thanksgiving Worship Service on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at First United Methodist Church located at 200 E. State Street, St. Johns. The service will start at 7:00 p.m.
This year’s theme, “Thanksgiving Grace,” envisions the family of God gathered around the Thanksgiving table which is decorated with candles, cornucopia, and place cards. The table in this service of worship symbolizes God’s gift of light in Jesus Christ, the gift of God’s abundance, and a place for everyone at God’s table.
The St. Johns Community Band, led by Roy Davis, will provide music at the service, as will the St. Joseph Children’s Choir.
Participating pastors and churches include Lori Sykes (First United Methodist Church), Eoin Murphy (St. Joseph Catholic Church), Tyler Barlage (Community Christian Church), Keith Whipple (Eureka Christian Church), and Matt Olson (First Congregational Church). Russ McCoy, director of the St. Johns Basic Needs Center, will also participate in the worship service.
Participants are encouraged to bring a canned good which will be donated to the St. Johns Basic Needs Center to assist in meeting community needs. A love offering will also be collected for the St. Johns Ministerial Association Assistance Fund, a fund that assists people needing help with food, rent, utilities, and gasoline.
The Community Thanksgiving Worship Service is a special time of pulling together as a community to recognize the good things with which God has blessed us. Please bring your family and friends, and join the St. Johns Ministerial Association in this seasonal event. For more details contact Lori at 989-224-6859.
