Zumba and Line Dancing classes being offered

Tired of the treadmill and looking for a fun way to stay fit and healthy? The Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Instructor: Denise Thelen
The Zumba classes will be held at Gateway North Elementary Cafeteria from 7:00 – 7:45 p.m. on Tuesdays, November 29, December 6 and 13 and Thursdays, December 8 and 15, 2011. Cost for a Zumba session is $20 per five-class session per person for City Residents and $25 for non-City Residents. You can also drop in each night and pay $6 as a city resident or $7 as a non-city resident. Drop-ins are allowed only if space permits. Most sessions have been filling up so it is highly recommended that you pre-register with the city offices before the first day of class.
Kick up your heels and let dancing give your mind and body a great workout with Line Dancing. The 3-week session will be held on Mondays, November 28, December 5 and 12, 2011. The Line-Dancing class runs from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with additional practice from 8:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. All classes meet in the Gateway North Elementary School Cafeteria and will be taught by David Pickett of Bar D Ranch Country Dance Lessons. David has been Country-Western Dancing for almost 20 years. Music will consist of songs currently or recently listed on Billboards Top 100 Country Chart.
Cost for a 3-week session is $20 per person for city residents and $25 per person for non-city residents. Drop in rates are $8 for city residents and $10 for non-city residents. Drop-ins are allowed only if space permits. You must reside within the City Limits to qualify as a City Resident. You may have a St. Johns mailing address but not live within the city limits. Please wear comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes (leather soles recommended) to dance in. You may want to bring a bottle of water to drink.
