This week Central Michigan Contractors began work on the new Redwings football field at the City Park.
Visible progress on site work related to the construction of a new academic addition at St. Johns High School and football field is good way to usher out 2011 and ring in the New Year. Heavy earth-moving equipment has been in motion during recent weeks, preparing both areas for the start of construction that will be ongoing during 2012.
Underground storm and sanitary lines are being installed and the building pad is prepared for the start of the new academic addition. Excavation and placement of footings and foundations is underway, and documents are being prepared the remaining bid categories. Bid awards should be let in late January.

Site demolition and grading activities are ongoing at the football field where the press box, bleachers and fencing have been removed. Bid proposals for the remainder of the work are being reviewed; awards should also be let in January.
Document preparation is in progress for renovations to the high school building and construction of new event areas. The tentative timeline for bid proposals on those areas calls for bid awards of key packages in March 2012.
