What do I think?

I hear this a lot every year, where did Christmas go? Well, all I can say is, it’s gone. So much for all the preparation for one day’s celebration which seems like a lot. Most of us are fortunate enough to enjoy it whether it’s for religious reasons or we simply love the family gathering and the joy we see in other’s faces when they receive a gift from us.

Facebook has lost its mind; they keep asking me to log in. I never logged out! So I have to log in as “Home” but I’ve since gotten tired of that malarkey and started logging in as a higher authority, “God.” Their computer didn’t recognize what I was doing and sent me their usual e-mail asking if it was really me.
Oh yeah, I’m God alright. Just get me on your damned website!
How dumb can they get?
I could have also logged in as Sam and Blanche, the people who rented my grandparents second house right next door to them. What’s funny about that is that Sam and Blanche didn’t always get along very well and would sometimes be heard arguing and physically fighting. I saw a lot of that in my earlier days.
The next time I’m asked to log in I’m going to put down Sam and Blanche and Facebook, being somewhat of an idiot organization, will tell me, “That’ll work!”

I went out this week looking for a picture of a real Christmas tree that was put out by the curbside waiting for the City to pick them up so I could post the photo on the Indy. I found nothing! Has everybody in St. Johns gone to artificial trees?
We have an artificial tree but there’s something more behind it than just the convenience. We have some small ornaments and if we had a real tree they’d get thrown out with the tree. This way if we don’t find all of them, they’ll be right there for next year’s holiday season.

For the last two years I’ve had a bet with my oldest son-in-law, Scott, about how the Detroit Lions would finish. Last year I bet him a turkey dinner for us vs. a brisket dinner for his family that the Lions would win 6 games. I won, exactly! Detroit had to win their final four games to bail me out. I think they like ol’ bauer.
This year I bet Scott that the Lions would win 10 games and I’ve already won the bet with one game remaining. I don’t have any disillusions; the Lions have a ways to go. It’s still fun just to see them get into the playoffs.
Next year I’m challenging him with a 12-4 record. I’ll bet he’ll bite on that.
I also challenged Scott to the turkey wishbone challenge, the wishbone having come from the turkey he donated for Thanksgiving last year. We pulled and we pulled and the wishbone shattered into at least 4 pieces. Neither one of us won nor do we know what the meaning of that was. Having a wishbone shatter like that is rare I would think, but maybe we waited too long and the wishbone was pretty dry having hung on a metal wind chime in the kitchen window since last year’s dinner. My Dad used to hang them on the molding over the kitchen doorway. Probably didn’t want us kids to get at it.
Anyway, I hope it has nothing to do with the Lions . . . we’ll see.
Happy New Year and I’ll take Guy Lombardo’s music anytime!
Until the next time . . .
