Electricity: Handle with Care

Fourth grade students at St. Joseph School in St. Johns recently had the privilege of learning about electricity and electrical safety from Mr. Ken Dudley, Sr.
Dudley is a retiree from the Lansing Board of Water and Light with more than 40 years of electric utility experience.

The children watched a movie regarding electrical safety and Mr. Dudley showed the students the safety gear that employees are required to wear when working with electricity.
Mr. Dudley also discussed with the students how to exit a vehicle if a wire fell onto it, to never go near a down wire and why birds can sit on electric wires without being electrocuted.

He brought in a large working electric model of a city to demonstrate to the students what could happen to them if they do not practice good electrical safety habits.
