Fred Meijer Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee Trail
The Friends of the Fred Meijer Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee Trail will hold their annual membership meeting at the Ionia County Commission on Aging Building, 115 Hudson Street in the City of Ionia on Wednesday evening, March 14, 2012 at 7 pm. This meeting is open to all current, past and potential members of the Friends group and anyone else interested in the promotion and maintenance of this trail that follows the former railroad corridor running through the counties of Clinton, Ionia and Shiawassee.
A brief business meeting will be followed by several presentations. The featured speaker at this year’s annual meeting is Toni Thompson. Ms. Thompson is currently President of the Friends of the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail, Vice President of Kalamazoo County Parks Foundation and Chairperson of the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance (MTGA). She has been involved in her local trail, a 30 mile connector between the KalHaven Trail and the Battle Creek Linear Trail, since 1991.
Other presenters include Annamarie Bauer from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources; Lynn Mason, Chairperson of the Mid-West Michigan Trail Authority; Nancy Krupriarz, Executive Director of the MTGA; and Carolyn Kane, Secretary of the Friends of the Fred Meijer River Valley Rail-Trails.
Among other items, the agenda this year will include discussions on plans for the 2012 Spring Trail Clean Up, scheduled for Saturday, April 21.
Board elections will take place for 3 three-year positions with terms ending in March, 2015. Members that paid dues in 2011 are eligible to vote in these elections.
