Doris Jean Wieber
Doris Jean (Page) Wieber, age 82, passed away March 27, 2012 in DeWitt, Michigan. She was born September 17, 1929 in Elsie, Michigan the daughter of Avelyn and Mary (Mendenhall) Page. She married Herbert Wieber on December 1, 1962 in St. Johns and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2004. Doris was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns. Doris loved flowers and adored animals.
She is survived by her son, Charles ( Lisa) Wieber of St. Johns; brothers, Charles (Alma) King of Lansing, Ivan (Geneva) Page of Grand Ledge, Ray (Sonia) Page of Mayfield, KY and Elden (Mary) Page of AZ. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. Her family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the mass at the Osgood Funeral Home.
Jack A. Bertoldi
Jack A. Bertoldi died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the age of 77. He was born February 27, 1935 in Seattle, Washington the son of George and Marcia (Mossman) Bertoldi. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Seattle University and worked for the federal government. Jack was an Air Force veteran, a member of the St. Johns and Ovid Masonic Lodge # 105 and an active member of the St. Johns Lions Club. On May 4, 1960 he married Jeanne Doughty and she survives him.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert of St. Johns and James (Barbara) of Traverse City, MI; one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Friday, April 27, 2012 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Rev. Hugh Banninga officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday and one hour prior the service on Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the PEEK Vision Program of the St. Johns Lions Club P.O. James C. Bratton Jr.
James C. Bratton Jr. died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the age of 83. He was born November 20, 1928 in Pemiscot, Missouri the son of James C. Sr. and Mary (Parsons) Bratton. He is a former member of the U.A.W. and is a retired skilled trade’s supervisor at General Motors.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Jackie; two daughters, Sharon Johnson of Hart, MI and Linda (Mike) Buckley of St. Johns; five grandsons, Rick (Christina) Moreno, Jeff (Cynthia) Moreno, Chris Moreno, Greg Cripps and Michael Buckley; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris (Wayne) Pope of Watertown S.D. and Joyce Eakin of Chattanooga, TN; three nieces, Twila Roesner, Theresa Clark, and Tanya Ryckman. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela Lynn Cripps and Vicky Lee Cockrum, a granddaughter, Nicole Boron, grandson, James Buckley, and son in law, Russell Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Christopher Lee Fruchey
Christopher Lee Fruchey, age 58, of Elsie, MI died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church Bannister, MI on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Marcel Portelli officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, Chapel, Elsie, MI. Rosary will be prayed on Friday evening at at the funeral home.
Chris was born in St. Johns, Michigan on September 5, 1953, the son of Duane and Nila (Wolfe) Fruchey. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1971. On July 26, 1975 he married Lynn Galko at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan.
Chris worked for Federal Mogul in St. Johns for 30 years until his retirement in 2007. He went to work part time at Ovid-Elsie Schools for the past 2 years. Chris enjoyed camping and being with his grandchildren, family and friends. He also enjoyed going to car shows. He resided most of his life in the Ovid and Elsie area, and was a member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church Bannister, MI.
He is survived by his wife Lynn Fruchey of Elsie, MI, daughter Vicki and Jake Woodbury of Ovid, MI, son Jeff and Amanda Fruchey of Elsie, MI, 4 grandchildren; Ellie, Emma, Clayton and Claire, mother Nila Fruchey of Ovid, MI, sister Jill and James Sloat of Elsie, MI, brother Daniel and Dana Fruchey of Sheridian, MI, sister in law Barbara Fruchey of Greenville, MI, and mother in law Mary Galko of Elsie, MI. Chris was predeceased by his father, brother Barry, and father in law Edward Galko.
Memorials may be made to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, Michigan.
