Vernon Wood, Elaine M. Barrett, Margaret E. Schomisch, Jeffrey M. Trune
Vernon Wood
Vernon Wood went to be with his Lord and Savior, July 10, 2012 at the age of 80. Born on September 5, 1931 in St. Louis, MI. He was the son of James and Gladys (Curtice) Wood. Vernon married Faith (Coe) Wood on November 7, 1953 in Holt, MI and she survives him.
Vernon is also survived by three children, Deborah (Tom) West of Lansing, Verna (Brian) Batterbee of DeWitt, Dennis (Annette) Wood of St. Johns, seven grandchildren, Nathaniel (Naomi) Batterbee, Jordan Batterbee, Elizabeth West, Emily (Chad) VanDamme, Thomas West, Sarah Wood, Joshua Wood, seven great grandchildren, sister, Maxine Donick, sister-in-law, Mildred Wood as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Vernon Matthew Wood, four brothers, two sisters and one nephew, Ron Wood.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns with Pastor Ron Sischo officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations for Vernon may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Lansing.
The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Elaine M. Barrett
Elaine M. Barrett, 56 of Mason, MI died on July 6, 2012. She was born on August 22, 1955 the daughter of Edward and Patricia (Boonk) Saxton. Elaine graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School in 1973 and worked as a dental assistant in Mason.
Elaine is survived by her fiancé Robert Strathmann, D.D.S. of Mason, sons, Cory and Scott Barrett both of Lansing, her mother, Patricia Saxton of Ovid and sister, Janet (Paul) Mailhot of California. She was preceded in death by her father Ed in 2009.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Greg Buckner officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home in St. Johns on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 5-8 P.M. She was a lover of her cats and other animals, so memorials may be made to the American Humane Association, 1400 16th St. NW, Suite 360, Washington, DC 20026.


Margaret E. Schomisch
Margaret “Marge” E. Schomisch, age 89, passed away on July 9, 2012 at her home in Fowler, Michigan. Marge was born in Roanoke, Virginia on June 12, 1923, the daughter of Frederick and Estelle (Walters) Swann. She married Ronald J. Schomisch on October 15, 1942 and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2010. They enjoyed being members of the Maple Twirlers Square Dance Club for many years. She was also a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Association and Daughters of Isabella. Margaret retired from Becker Furniture in 1982.
Surviving her are five children, Ronald Schomisch, Jr. of Farwell, Joyce Bushard of Lansing, Ardith (David) Miller of Fowler, Bette (Allen) Dault of Lapeer and Bruce Schomisch of Ionia; 12 grand children; 27 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Ray Schomisch and sister-in-law, Marcella Trierweiler and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her sisters, June Hoal and Virginia Emmons, brothers-in-law, Lefty Hoal and Howard Emmons and daughter-in-law, Billie Lou Schomisch.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler, burial to follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler, with a rosary prayed at 8 P.M. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Most Holy Trinity Seminarian Fund or Great Lakes Hospice. Jeffrey M. Trune
Jeffrey M. Trune passed away July 7, 2012 at the age of 24. He was born on June 7, 1988 in Lapeer, Michigan. He was the son of John Trune and Loretta (Bridenbaugh) Winsor. Jeffrey was a very active member of the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step mother, Janet Trune and step father, Daniel Winsor, sister, Melissa (Tony) Dole, brother, Danny Trune, step sisters, Sue (Craig) White and Amy Cope. Jeffrey is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews and 4 step nieces and nephews and grandfathers, Carl Winsor and Ray Bridenbaugh. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his grandmothers, June Winsor, Joyce Bridenbaugh and Mary Trune.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church, 100 Maple St. in Maple Rapids with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church for a flag pole. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Stephen J. Schrauben
Stephen J. Schrauben, age 16, passed away on July 4, 2012 in Houghton Lake, Michigan. Stephen was born on December 27, 1995, the son of Gary and Margaret (Bozung) Schrauben. Stephen loved his family and helping people. He loved football, basketball, track, hunting and fishing. He tried never to hurt anyone, but always to help them heal.
Along with his parents, Stephen is survived by his sisters, Emily and Ann and his brother, John and his nephew, Noah and grandfather, William Schrauben. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Beatrice Bozung and Jeanne Schrauben.
Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. His family will receive friends 3-5 and 7 – 9 P.M. on Friday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes. Rosary will be prayed at 8 P.M. on Friday. Memorial contributions will be made to a charity of his family’s choice.
