Wednesday, August 8
Broadway’s bright lights will shine at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell on Wednesday, Aug. 8, when talented singers perform familiar favorites and new Broadway melodies at the weekly Concert in the Park summer music series. Music begins at 7 p.m.; there is no admission charge.
Broadway Revue opens with popular local duo, Tom and Beth Webb, offering up classic show tunes.
“We’re excited to take part in the evening of Broadway music,” Beth says. “It’s always fun to look through the music we have and make choices about what we will be singing.”
Those choices include selections from shows like “Ragtime,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” and “Fiddler on the Roof” along with other Broadway award winners.

Talented vocalists from St. Johns High School take the stage following the Webb’s performance.
“We’ve planned a contemporary program with songs from some of the newest musicals to hit Broadway including “Once, “The Addams Family,” “Tick Tick Boom!” and “The Toxic Avenger,” says Ashley Bowen, director of theatre at St. Johns Public Schools.
“The audience will recognize many of our singers from their successes in the high school theatre program including Joel Carpenter, Trisha Bellgowan, Josh Spicer, Mallory Cormier, Meg Dedyne, Katie Miller, Eli Joy and many others.”
Concert in the Park is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the city of St. Johns, with support from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition, the St. Johns Lions Club is being recognized at the Aug. 8 concert for their financial support of the Arts Council and the summer music series.
Concerts are held each Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., in the St. Johns City Park. The St. Johns Lions and Lioness Club staff a concession stand that offers light refreshments. All concerts are held rain or shine.
