Jean F. Williams

Jean F. Williams passed away peacefully on July 31, 2012 at the age of 90. She was born June 13, 1922 in Malvern, Arkansas the daughter of Charles E. and Nell (Bivens) Holmes and later they moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Jean was a member of First United Methodist Church in St. Johns, Daughters of the American Revolution and the St. Johns Art Guild. Jean married Robert L. Williams, Christmas Eve 1942 and has resided in St. Johns since 1943.
Despite her diagnosis of macular degeneration she continued to pursue her artistic endeavors for several years. Although not native to St. Johns, Jean had gained many friends during her adult life in St. Johns while employed for 36 years at Harr’s Jewelry Store. Everyone knew and loved Jean.
Surviving is her husband of almost 70 years, Robert; son, Robert E. (Linda nee Lewis) of Newberry, MI; daughter, Judith (Dewayne) Miller of DeWitt; grandchildren Sean (Valerie) Miller, Jenelle (Chris) Brunt, Mary Williams (fiancé Jeff Kettler), Gabe (Nicole) Miller and Jacob Miller and several cousins and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Nell Beck.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 3, 2012 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Ellen Zienert officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 5-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.


Linda K. Bond

Linda K. Bond, age 65, passed away in Grand Blanc, Michigan on June 30, 2012. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 19, 1947, the daughter of Alma L. and Beth (Cummings) Jensen. Linda married Rulon “Reggie” Bond on September 25, 1965 in Salt Lake City and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2005.
Linda is survived by her loving son, William James (Karen) Bond of St. Johns, sisters, Ranae, Erma, Gayleen, Bonnie and brother, Danny Jensen. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Her burial will take place 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2012, at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Lansing. Memorial donations will be made to a charity of her family’s choice. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Albert L. Galloway
Albert L. Galloway, age 78 of Houghton Lake, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel with Pastor Jerry Drummond officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. and on Saturday prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan.
Albert was born on August 29, 1933 in Lafayette Township, Gratiot County, Michigan to Albert Sr. and Mabel (Agner) Galloway. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1951. After graduation he worked in factories in Lansing, drove truck for Bob Monroe and farmed. Albert married Maxine Stine on June 12, 1954 at the Edgewood Church of God.
Al was owner of Al Galloway Inc. a used tractor parts and farm machinery business near St. Johns which he started in 1964. In 1969 after attending Reisch Auction College in Mason City, Iowa, he started Galloway Auction Service Inc. and auctioned many auctions over the state of Michigan. He also owned two oil companies; Galloway Exploration Inc. and Galloway Land and Mineral Inc. In the 1980’s he started an appraisal business; Mega Enterprises.
In 1994 M.D.O.T. bought his property near St. Johns and he and Maxine retired to their home at Houghton Lake. After his retirement he sold Real Estate for 6 years with Century 21 River Country at Higgins Lake and received many awards for sales. He also restored tractors and kept busy cutting wood.
Surviving him is his wife of 58 years, Maxine, son James (Debbie) Galloway of St. Johns, MI, daughters; Jane (Gregory) Mayott of Dumfries, VA, Jean Galloway of Asheville, N.C. and Jan Galloway of Traverse City, MI, 3 grandsons; Jamison Galloway of St. Johns, MI, Travis Mayott, U.S. Navy stationed in Georgia, and Spencer Mayott of VA, step granddaughter Mandi Brunner of Lansing, MI, 5 sisters; Marilyn House, June (Bernard) Demski, Emma (Robert) Brandal, Mildred Reeves, Marge (Arden) Chaffin, 1 brother Carl (Joyce) Galloway, sister-in-law June Galloway and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, twin brother Allen, sister Mary, brothers-in-law; Marshall House, LaVerne Reeves and Richard Crumbaugh.
