Lansing, Delta Township, Eaton County, Michigan – Woldumar Nature Center hosts August Community Program Day on Saturday, August 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Day’s activities include tours of the Moon Log Cabin, demonstrations by the Woldumar Blacksmiths, and new this year, Wilderness Survival Skills by Dr. Larry Martin, renowned historian and educator.

Wilderness Survival Skills by Dr. Larry Martin, 8/18/21, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
What we call survival the Native Americans called daily living. Native Americans set the standard for surviving off the land. Learn how these people made bows and arrows, what food they obtained from nature, how they made shelter, stalked, built shelters, harvested medicinal plants, created snares, navigated, created fire without matches, called animals and fished.
We will also discuss modern day equipment that can be helpful should the unexpected occur. This class will teach you how to survive using nature’s resources and your own creativity. Be better prepared so that you can enjoy nature more.
Skills Workshop begins at 11:00 a.m. and concludes at 3:00 p.m.
Program is open to 6 years old to adult, children should be attended by an adult.
Participants should sign up in advance and may bring a sack lunch. This workshop will be held at the Woldumar Nature Center, 5739 Old Lansing Road, Lansing MI 48917. Call to sign up at 517-322-0030 ext. 11.
