Perrin-Palmer Fireplace

I have very little information on this photo only to say my oldest daughter, Renee, remembers this as being the kindergarten room. It seems strange that a school built in 1939 would have a fireplace with small children.
I attended Perrin Palmer as did our three daughters. It’s sad to have seen it go.
Maybe the readers have some information they can pass along.
