The town comes alive with the sound of music
As September wends its way toward a new season – with respect to Julie Andrews – the town comes alive with the sound of music. However the Mint City Singers won’t emerge over the crest of a St. Johns hill in similar manner, but they will greet autumn with rhythm and song amid hopes for a future sustained by a growing membership and a busy schedule.
Smiles and songs are on the minds of Mark Grueneberg and Carol Malewska as a new season with the Mint City Singers gets underway
“Except for the days leading up to the busy Mint Festival Weekend, our group enjoyed a leisurely summer,” commented Carole Malewska, a leading member. “But with fall approaching, we’ve returned to regular weekly rehearsals in preparation for our appearances. Those practice sessions are held each Monday evening beginning at 7:30 at St. John Lutheran Church. “And,” Ms. Malewska went on to say, “they are open to anyone who enjoys singing and would like to be among others with a similar interest. We don’t audition, we simply invite men or women to join our happy ranks.”
Currently the Mint City Singers number about 16 members including Karen Hoffman, accompanist. As Ms. Malewska mentioned, interested singers may attend any rehearsal or, if advance information is desired, contact Ms. Malewska at cdmalewska@yahoo.com or David Fitzpatrick at theforefitz@yahoo.com.
The next rehearsal is scheduled for Monday September 10 with regular sessions following on succeeding Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
