Migrant Workers Housing
by Barry Bauer

Migrant workers used to be plentiful in the St. Johns area and were used to harvest crops such as sugar beets. Housing was needed for them and Chapman’s Portable Houses provided those buildings.
Chapman’s was located prior to Federal-Mogul on Steel and Mead Sts. Today it’s slowly becoming the home of F. C. Mason Co. who recently purchased the building.

These migrant children are staying in one of the buildings.
