What do I think?

by Barry Bauer
Monday morning I was listening to Redeye Radio and they were talking about sportscaster, Bob Costas, who commented at halftime of the Sunday Night football game about the murder and suicide committed by a Kansas City Chief’s football player, Jovan Belcher.
Costas quoted columnist, Jason Whitlock, and said, “If Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.”
They are suggesting we need more gun control. Really?
At almost the same time in the news is a story about a woman tennis referee, Lois Goodman, who was acquitted of the murder of her husband and in this case a coffee mug was allegedly used as the murder weapon.
Does this suggest we should outlaw coffee mugs? Really?
In another world Belcher could have stabbed her to death and then slit his wrist. He could have killed her with a baseball bat and then drove himself into a tree at high speeds.
Or he could have taken the jaw of an ass and killed her with it and then jumped off a cliff.
Let’s not forget poison.
According to the Bible murder began with the second generation of humans on this Earth and it’s been going on ever since. Cain got pissed at his brother, Abel, and decided to do away with him. He went to his local weapons store (Mother Nature) and acquired a club. Because there were no background checks back then the murder couldn’t be prevented.
I don’t know about anybody else but if I’m going to be murdered I want it done with a gun, I hate the thought of a long knife being plunged into my gut and moved around like a video game controller before it’s pulled out. That’s my nightmare.
Anyway, I don’t agree with these people who think they can instantly stop murder with gun control. Even background checks don’t indicate who’s going to snap and who isn’t.
The rhetoric in this country is getting weird.

The hot topic on the Bakita & Bentley radio talk show was the Detroit Lions. Fans want heads to roll! On the last play of the game against the Indianapolis Colts the Lions defenders went to the back of the end zone and waited for Luck to pass and all the while Indianapolis had their safety valve out there in the right flat that wasn’t accounted for. Luck threw the ball ten yards ahead to him and the runner ran it in untouched. Game over.
I was out in the garage listening to the game and I kept talking to the radio, (I often do that). “It’s going, it’s going, it’s going . . . it’s gone.”
That folks is a team that is under coached and outmanned. What can I say. It appears last years 10-6 record was a fluke and this team belongs around 6-10. That is if they can get there.

Remember the homeless man with no shoes? Well the story turned sour. After a NYPD police officer went through the trouble of buying him socks and new boots the guy was caught back out on the streets by the NY Times without them. When asked why he told them they were too valuable so he hid them away.
Now the guy, Jeffrey Hillman, wants “a piece of the pie” meaning, he wants money for the news story.
So much for helping the homeless

And Furthermore:
I hope Speaker of the House, John Boehner, doesn’t wimp out on us on the debt ceiling talks. I have a bad feeling.
The Detroit Lions will win two of its last four games.
Why does listening to radio make more sense than watching tv anymore? There are very few shows on tv I like.
Betty’s been buying extra food to give to the local food bank. Seems like a good time of the year to be doing that.
Green energy begins with greenbacks . . . lots of them. Are you ready to pay your fair share?
Until the next time . . .
