Thursday, March 14
Community members are invited to attend a public forum set for Thursday, March 14 as the St. Johns School District begins its search for a new superintendent.
St. Johns Public School Superintendent Dr. Ken Ladouceur recently announced his retirement effective June 30, at the conclusion of the 2012-13 school year. The district has contracted Ray & Associates to facilitate the search process. Dr. Bill Newman and Dr. Marlene Davis are leading that effort.
Dr. Davis will meet with district administrators, staff and students during sessions throughout the day on March 14.
The public forum that begins at 5:30 p.m. in the board room at the Wilson Center concludes the day-long series of meetings. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend the session and communicate the types of qualifications, characteristics and skills they feel are important for the position of superintendent.
Individuals who are unable to attend the public forum may attend one of the sessions with SJPS staff that are planned for earlier in the day; 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Area residents may also fill out a survey if they are unable to attend any of the meeting times.
Surveys are available at the district web site, http://www.sjredwings.org or by calling or emailing Mark McKeown at the district office, (989) 227-4002; mckeownm@sjredwings.org
