Nutty Politicians, City News, and Furthermore
by Barry Bauer
People have plans for us, kind of scary isn’t it. I thought it was I who had the right to plan my life. Their plans involve more taxes, more regulations that will raise the cost of what we buy, and of course controlling our guns. They are not at all concerned about common people getting killed with a gun. They are concerned that the guns will be turned on them. It’s the people’s way of fighting tyranny, just like they did during the American Revolutionary War.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California presented herself as an ammunitions expert. She claimed to have seen bullets “implode.” I’ve never heard of such a thing! So much for her “expertise.” Anyway, she didn’t get enough support from her colleagues so her bill was drop. She vowed to fight on and she will. Control freaks never give up.
Governor Cuomo of New York wanted to limit the gun magazine to seven rounds. The gun manufacturers told him they don’t make a seven round magazine so he backed off. I could tell them that duck hunters are limited to three shells so they just put in a plug that only allows three shells – but I won’t. I guess those big city slickers probably figured that it doesn’t apply to handguns or they don’t even know about it and that’s alright with me.
Mayor Bloomberg of New York City is having a picnic with citizen’s rights. He’s ordered hospitals to lock up baby food so that new mothers will have to breast feed. He’s banned smoking in public places. He wanted to ban 20oz. containers for soda pop but that was shot down by the State Supreme Court. He’s currently trying to ban Styrofoam cups and is pledging $12 million of his own money to go after those elected officials who don’t support new gun control laws.
What the hell is going on with this country?
I own guns because I have a right to. I have to be concerned that I might need to use them someday. It’s force against equal force. I didn’t invent the game but I guess I have to play it. It’s a strange country we live in today and our government seeks to punish the wrong people for gun ownership. Just check out Chicago’s gun problem and how they’re dealing with it.

The City has said this week: “Area garage sales are encouraged to reduce the amount of reusable items needlessly going to the landfill.” I hope that means they’ll rescind their limit on how many garage sales a person can have in one year because it doesn’t add up.
On the other hand, I support the City if they decide to levy a millage increase in order to fix our city streets. More taxes are a bitter pill to swallow but it beats the hell out of traveling a teeth jarring trip through the city. That’s use of our tax dollars we can experience and enjoy on the local level. That means the money doesn’t go to Eygpt.

And Furthermore:
While arguments go on in the Supreme Court against California’s Proposition 8 that bans same sex marriages and the Defense of Marriage Act, waiting in the wings are the same arguments for polygamy and incest. Don’t those people have rights too? You won’t believe what’s coming after that.
One thing you can say that’s good about this cold weather we’re having is that it’s better for the fruit trees than last year’s warm weather.
Hell isn’t for sissies.
Not too many games into the NCAA Basketball tournament and three out of four of my teams lost. I guess I’ll have to wait until next year.
Until the next time . . .
